Mine is a moderate vaginal one that really began to impact on my life....uncomfortable walking, hoovering and riding a bike. All sorted by a ring pessary that is renewed every six months. No surgery required at this stage and so all's well!

Merelina I have had this done and the discomfort is easily treated with painkillers,the stitches desolve over the weeks and they may feel tight they are not painful.Get all the help you can as you will feel very tired after the procedure for a few weeks and do not do any lifting of any kind. xx good luck.

Thank you grandma moira that is rather encouraging. Thought I would get live in help for a week or so to look after both of us. I have willing daughters, but both have small children. I have read that sometimes you get pain in the pelvis from the internal stitches. How long were you in hospital?

I had a vaginal prolapse a few years ago. I had a hysterectomy with repair of anterior and posterior prolapse (bladder). A mild prolapse may be treated with a pessary and kegel exercises.
Merelikna - my recovery was fine but you are not able to do anything more than lift a full mug at first and several weeks before you can do normal housework so you would need to get help .

I have a vaginal hernia and have been putting off surgery for some years. It’s getting worse and I will have to take the plunge. Has anyone had the op, and how was it. I have a husband who needs a certain amount of care so will have to get help I think.
