Swollen lip after dentist and cold

To my knowledge cold sores usually tingle and are sore, could it be a reaction to the cream you used for the sore nose You can use something for years with no reaction then have a reaction

I agree with that it could be the cream that has caused the swelling. Many moisturisers boast about having the ability to, as it were, puff out wrinkles by filling skin cells with moisture (they tend not to put it quite like that!). It looks as if you might have proved them right, Lucklegs.

And also proved that there's such a thing as too much moisturising.

Try Vaseline. It works as a barrier rather than as a moisturiser.

Thanks for that. I have put Vaseline on and hope my trout pout disappears, it has plumped out the wrinkles as the skin is so stretched.

If it doesn't settle perhaps ask a pharmacist? You could also try some antihistamine in case an allergy. Hope it settles soon, sounds uncomfortable.

Blisteze ointment for cold sores is brilliant. You can buy it in boots or superdrug. It kind of numbs the pain and help the lip to repair.

I've developed cold sores without the 'tingle'warning. The only thing that works for me is acyclovir - the cheaper generic version works just as well as the more expensive Zovirax.

If your lip stays swollen after a day or so off the moisturiser, it might be worth mentioning to your dentist.

In the meantime nothing to lose by trying an over the counter antihistamine.
