A few years ago I had a positive screen which meant I had to do a second test at home and then go for a colonoscopy. It turned out that I had a polyp which was removed at the time and the test showed it was benign. My whole experience was very positive. I spoke at great length on the telephone to a sister working on the screening team who explained everything to me about the procedure etc. When dI went for the colonoscopy she was there to greet me and was also present when the procedure was done. When I had the diet sheet come I actually started it all a day early and had no problem taking what seemed like gallons of laxative mixture! I was not totally knocked out and I am proud to say that when looking at the screen the surgeon announced it was a lovely clean bowel!! He talked all the way through the procedure and explained what he was doing - all very comforting. This was in Bridgend, South Wales.
