I, DH, DD, DS and DDIL have all signed up and know each other's wishes.
DH and DD are also playlet donors and I've been a bone marrow donor, as well as all of us being blood donors, and I'd willingly give as a live donor to my family (fingers crossed that never becomes necessary)
I've signed. My DH lost his brother to kidney disease in the 1970's, just as transplant surgery was beginning. Unfortunately it was too late to save him.
Ana BRAVO- that is the way to go. Spain has the same system- I really do not understand how people can object to that. Sadly this opt out system was refused in Switzerland recently- tragic.
I know many won't agree- but I do feel that if there is one kidney (or whatever organ) for several possible recipients- and a choice has to be made- the fact someone is an organ donor should be taken into consideration, with other factors.
Signed- BUT 10000s more lives would be saved by carrying an Organ Donor card. Do you carry one? Have you made your wishes re organ donation clear to your next of kin and family? Would you agree, and even better, volunteer a loved one's organs for donation in case of a tragical accident?
That is how 1000s of lives can be saved- xxxxx times more than expensive drugs.
Signed - but I would hope that in a similar situation involving an adult would also be deemed unacceptable.
I'm not sure if it's true that if this young girl lived in the USA she would be given the drug. In Michael Moore's film "Sicko", there were several examples of people whose conditions were deteriorating because they didn't have medical insurance and couldn't afford the drugs to prevent their condition from getting worse. I seem to recall that they were only allowed the drugs once their condition became acute - which, in one case, meant that the young married man died.
I too have signed. DC must understand what it is to lose a child. Let us hope he will at least sanction 3 or 4 trial injections to see if the treatment is right for this lass.
I was just going to put this on. You beat me to it. Yes, I have signed. Another 30,000 signatures. I bet there are 30,000 grannies on here who could sign.
