I did those things and went shopping too.
I have found some black canna lilies (plants which Jayne loved) in of all places Aldi! and now have to decide what to do with them for the funeral.

Either I plant them in some container I don't have and which will be heavy.......or I cut the flowers and make a bouquet, but I can't do that until Thursday. I think I can put it together ok.

I talked to K on the phone when I came in and he seems to be dealing with a lot of the stuff he needs to do, which is good.

Trying not to think about Friday too much.

Alie I wish I had words that would help, a magic wand, all of that. Dealing with the minutiae of daily life, the alarm clock, new washer and so on, are all part of the healing process, getting you through the days. It must be unbelievably hard, and my heart aches for you.
But I too am pleased that you are posting here, reaching out to all of us, who will continue to be here for you. (((hugs)))

Today I am slogging through things like returning a defective alarm clock (it rang once and then stopped completely, and I need to return it before the time runs out!) and getting a new washer for a hose tap otherwise I can't water and will lose plants.......etc etc

All of which is a drag, I am tired and miserable today after a Sunday on which I coped fine until the evening, when I found myself playing solitaire on the PC and running with tears at the same time.
Best to do something.

Tomorrow I go back to Oxford again.

Alie Every day at the moment you are in a place you never expected to be with no experience of how to handle it. If you found a moment of humour, well that was what you needed and good for you. I cannot imagine how you must feel at the moment and how you are getting through each new day, but I am full of admiration that you are getting through each new day and my heart goes out to you.

It's good to write in stressful times, Alie. As you say it 'lets something out'. There's nothing odd about finding something funny. Grief doesn't mean you lose your sense of humour, even at a time when everything is gloomy. x x x

NOT odd, that's normal in the surreal situation you're in, finding something funny is a good thing.

I wrote a very melancholy poem, which seems to have helped.....think I let something out.
My grandson at school doesn't want to talk about it to anyone there. He just wants 'to be normal'. Normal is just going to be a bit different.

What you are experiencing Alie is perfectly 'normal' given what you've been through, and are still going through. No one can tell you how to grieve, everyone is different.
