Weird Periods

Pain in breast while periods is normal if it is just for sometime but having excessive pain in breast is the thing to worry about.So I would suggest if you have that pain again and again do see a doctor.

A quick visit to the doc might be reassuring for you and could not do any harm, even though it does simply sound like menopausal disruption. It is always worth being careful.

Good medical services where you are - and worth taking advantage of.

My menopause went from no periods for a few months to flooding which meant I was losing so heavily I would go through a tampon and pad and on through my clothes. This went on for about 3 years before I stopped altogether at age 53. I recently had a pelvic X-ray and asked what the shadow around my womb area was. The consultant said it was a fibroid . I had no idea I had one but wondered if it had been there whilst I was still menstruating as fibroids can cause very heavy bleeding. No problem after the menopause because there's no lining to affect it. Do you think it's possible your symptoms are caused by one, worth mentioning at the GP appointment perhaps? Yes, I know two women (sisters actually) who both had menopause babies in their early fifties but thankfully there is absolutely no chance whatsoever that I am pregnant.

Yes, it's horrible when you don't know when to expect your next period Gillybob. This one came when I was away from home and didn't happen to have any "supplies" on me at the time.

I have an appointment with the GP next week anyway for a repeat prescription so I will mention what is going on, hopefully it will be down to the menopause although it has been fairly trouble free so far.

I don't wish to alarm you but I do know of a woman who fell pregnant and gave birth at 53 so if there is any chance you could be pregnant do a test.

I can totally sympathise kalexie mine are very weird at the moment and very unpredictable too. Nothing for three months and then perfectly "normal" for a few months then nothing and then normal. It is really getting me down as I am never quite sure if/when it will come. The last few months have been like clockwork and very heavy and painful too. I am 52 and my sister who is 48 has not had a period at all for over a year. She had no symptoms at all they just stopped.

Yes! kalexie It sounds as if its not unusual but you should see your GP.

Me too - Very strange periods, flooding which lasted for over a week, the next month hardly anything, painful breasts. It was due to the menopause. They then tapered off over about a year. If worried though see your GP

You really should go and get checked over, to make sure the bleeding is not due to other causes.

I had very heavy bleeding on starting the menopause, and went from 4 weeks to 2 1/2 ! nightmare - Had a mirena coil fitted which stopped them all together and when removed later just had a few light periods then a full stop, thank goodness
I know it may sound daft,but you did check you weren't pregnant?
