Numb tongue and tingling

I was cleaning the bathroom earlier when my tongue suddenly went numb at the tip, it only lasted for a short while and then started to tingle as if I'd had an anaesthetic. It was quite discombobulating, but then I realised that several times over the past few weeks I've had similar numbness and tingling in one or two of my fingers.
I've just had a quick google and the obvious answer was vitamin B12 deficiency, but I take B vitamins every day and have a good diet so I don't think that's it. Any ideas?

Best get a check up at GPs GA

Definitely go and see your GP ga. You will probably just worry and chances are this may be something easily resolved, giving you peace of mind.

Fingers tingle if you have a trapped nerve in your neck/shoulder area.

I had a numb thumb. Then i had a new kindle. Turns out it was kindle induced.

Worth a trip to doc just to check things out I would say.

I get tingling down one side of my tongue and it always heralds a migraine.

Numb and tingly tongue can be a symptom of something nasty. Please GA get a check up.

B12 needs injections not tablets. See GP

I would see GP as advised.

Okay, thanks all, I'm persuaded. I shall make an appointment with my GP - it just happened again a few minutes ago. hmm

The tingling could be associated with low Calcium levels - do you have a thyroid problem?

grannyactivist Wed 19-Feb-14 19:19:02

Yes I do Riverwalk, but I'm on thyroxine for it.

Tingling is a classic sign of low Calcium - maybe you need a blood test.
