got to have one this week. Don't know what to expect. How long am I in there for? Am I going to get claustrophobic? Can I take my other half with me for support?

I hope it all goes well for you willsandco. You've been kept in suspense for a long time, haven't you? It's good to have your wedding to look forward to. Good luck. flowers

yes, it has been a long wait........! Want to get to the bottom of it all but, in reality, don't want the worst diagnosis so it is a bit of a catch 22 situation. I keep getting recurring chest/lung infections, seven since July last year and it doesn't make sense to any doctor/specialist I have spoken to. Still, the investigations go on...........!

JessM Mon 17-Feb-14 07:13:04

Let us know how you get on.

willsandco Mon 17-Feb-14 16:21:57

Yes, I will do.

JessM Fri 21-Feb-14 17:30:22

Wondering how you did get on.

I have survived the MRI scan. Took in an Acker Bilk CD and played that and they let my OH sit alongside and hold my hand throughout. As it went on, I got used to it. Fighting the fear is worst! Then I had a lumbar puncture which was far worse. Then blood tests, chest Xray, respiratory test...... I will be called back for the results by the Professor in a week to ten days. So that is over, for now. It is just I am such a scaredy cat about claustrophobia, lifts, and heights! Have had to put my Cowardly Lion costume on big time over these two days and ROAR!
Thank you all for your help in all this. Much appreciated. Will keep youall in the loop re diagnosis.

So glad you made it through wills and I hope that you get helpful results which will prove a good start to sorting your problems, it certainly sounds as though you had a busy time.

I didn't get on well with mine. No-one told me about music or mirrors although I was given a blindfold. I was fine until the two operatives changed over and the second one didn't speak. That was when the thought that everyone had left because of a fire alarm occurred to me and I panicked because I could not get out. I should think my BP skyrocketed. Also had a brain scan two years ago but don't know what that was like because I was concussed smile

Thankfully, I had Peter with me and he was holding my hand. I just felt safe with him. He is a real brick. It is very isolated inside that otherwise. I have had a lovely afternoon - feel so chilled today now that the tests are over. My lovely neighbour opposite has brought me in a lovely bunch of flowers - how sweet is that? xx People are so kind.

annodomini Sat 22-Feb-14 15:51:35

Glad the tests are all over, willsandco. They sound very gruelling, but hopefully worth it in the long run. All the very best while you wait for the results. flowers x

It is good that you have all these tests behind you now. I hope that the results will be favourable. I know the next few days will feel stressful for you as you wait to hear and we will all be thinking of you.

thanks, ladies. I just feel so chilled and so relaxed. I just feel in my bones that the diagnosis will be motor neurone disease, cos so many factors add up. But...I am very calm and if it is that, I will have to find a way of dealing with it. But, you all know that nothing is definite until the fat lady sings! Will just have to wait and see.....! But I am enormously pleased that the tests and scans are done with. It took every ounce of courage I had to go through them. I was buoyed up with your support and the 100 odd messages I had from family and friends....simply amazing! - and the neighbour opposite brought me over a lovely bouquet of flowers today - how lovely was that!!

Oh what courage you display"willsandco* I do hope your fears are unfounded but stay confident and in the same calm frame of mind. You will come through this and all good wishes winging your way.

Good luck wills, I hope you're wrong about the diagnosis flowers

willsandco Sun 23-Feb-14 18:26:54

Yes, Nona, so do we. An anxious wait for everyone. I have the most marvellous family and friends but if it is positive, it asks such a lot of them too. Just have to wait and see.
