Welcome Anthea. From your name I would think you are going to be a great laugh, I hope so!
Welcome to all new comers!
Welcome, CaroL10, glad you have found the site useful. I hope you will continue to enjoy it.
Welcome Velogranny. Good name! I enjoy exercise too, long may we be able to continue! I hope you are enjoying finding your way around the threads.
Hi LauraGransnet and well done!
You certainly got a good response to your question. I am Grammy and my husband is Grampa/Gramps/Grandpa, which ever comes to his lips first.
Choosing a name is definitely the parents' business. Having input from
either side will complicate matters.
It would be best to stand back. If the other in-laws are pushy you'll be seen in a far better light.
And, be prepared to or feel protective toward the little family.
Good luck. Remember, wait to be asked.
I love the site but am confused by all the abbreviations DD DG and others I cannot remember
A very warm welcome to all newbies and I hope you settle in well!
All the abbreviations can be very confusing at first, crossgranny, but you'll soon get used to them and it's so much easier to type a long post using them instead of full titles, etc.
There's a list of the usual abbreviations (Acronyms) at the top righthand of this page, just under where it says Gransnet Forums.
Nice to hear from you, crossgranny, welcome. You will soon get used to all the abbreviations and find yourself using them, but only if you wish. I see you have mastered the smileys, it was ages before I tried them!
Welcome, Blodyn. Yes, there are lots of non-grandparents on here, so you will fit in perfectly! The pace is a little slower after MN, but at least there is usually time to read most of the threads, whereas I find there is just too much to take in at 'the other place'.
shysal Thanks for the welcome. MN does get hectic doesn't it
Welcome Italiangirl. You have years of fun ahead as a Granny, and as a Gransnetter! Are you from Italy, and are you based there, in the UK or elsewhere?
Hi nikki, you too have years of fun ahead! I wish I could crochet, I can only knit.
Hello Regalo, welcome to Gransnet. I am so sorry to hear about your twin GSs, what a dreadful time it must have been, something from which one can never really recover. I hope you will enjoy sharing fun times and sad on here.
Hi discorpion, welcome. Indeed you will definitely get to meet some great people on here. I hope you will enjoy posting, after getting a feel of the site.
To quote Delia Smith - 'WHERE ARE YOU?'
I hate to think of anyone being ignored when introducing themselves on this thread, so I watch it and try to respond each time I find a newbie has posted. Anyone else fancy doing the same a bit more often?
I know welcomes happen on lots of other threads, but this is the official GNHQ one. I don't want to be thought of as the pushy one who has tried to take over, which is far from my nature! [shy emoticon]
