Electric weeding tools

I’ve never heard of them! how do they work? - sounds great for when you can't weed "normally" anymore.

I’d never heard of them either, but have just googled the Ryobi version, looks interesting, especially as I can’t use a broom to clean out the weeds from between the bricks on my drive!

Oh! I was hoping it was some sort of powered "grabber" that would weed a border!

I am paying a 15 year old to do the weeding for me this weekend, weather permitting. I do have a hand-held very sharp scraper.

Those so called weeding machines are not as easy to use as they make out, controlling a wire brush on the end of a stick isn't that easy. An able man will cope easily but if you have limited strength you will struggle.

I suggest using weed killer for the first time then a weed burner periodically to keep the regrowth down

Do you mean for weeding paving Sikipoo, or for cultivated garden areas? I’ve looked at the Ryobi cordless hoe and hand cultivators, and there are some good tests of them on YouTube. The hoe looks excellent for people with allotments, it saves a lot of work, but I haven’t succumbed because I think my plants in the borders are too tightly packed to make it viable.

My kind husband picked me up a long handled wire brush from Aldi which quickly removes the weeds on our front block paving. I have just cleaned it with wet and forget which has killed any weeds between the blocks. It was only a few pounds and works very well and doesn't particularly take a lot of effort. Admittedly I do keep on top of the job and we don't tend to get too many weeds

Just on the Ryobi tools bit, we have the strimmer, it’s brilliant, and also the very small (comparatively) chain saw. Their tools seem very sturdy and all use the same battery and all cordless.

I have a weedwand. It has a little gas canister and I light the flame at the bottom of the handle and I just walk round burning the weeds off

We have one and it’s great, fiully recommend it plus it’s a gadget so that means hubs will use it and help with gardening

These gadgets make it sound so easy sister in law got an electric pruner it’s heavy and painfully slow She likes it as her hands are quite arthritic

I've got a Ryobi paving weeder. I have a large drive and keeping up with the relentless weeding between the block pavers was a massive chore. The Ryobi tool has made it so much easier.
Once the Ryobi has cleaned between the paving blocks, keep the weeds down by spraying with white vinegar with a little salt and washing up liquid.
I've always been against using chemicals on weeds but eventually succumbed - life's too short etc.

I think she is looking at electric burners, not electric powered scrapers.

I used a gas burner with variable results. Sometimes it works really well and other times hardly at all.

A friend likes her electric burner, but it does mean trailing a cable around, and it is a bit slow.
