I gave up growing parsley from seed and bought a supermarket one in the spring. It has flourished and is still growing well.

Try a North wall, mine grows in a couple of little trough. I start the seeds off on in the Sun then move.
I have parsley all through the winter months by doing this.
And I do wear the Trousers 😅

Greyduster - everyone knows that parsley grows only in a house where the woman is boss....(?)
Just check that the men in your life aren't sabotaging your herb to avoid this.

It is said that the seed has to go down to the devil and back nine times before it will germinate, which is why it takes so long. Also, according to an old English folk tale, parsley grows best in a household where the wife wears the trousers.

I grow it in pots on the kitchen window sill. Basil does well too.

I've tried several times to grow parsley in a semi shaded part of the garden from seed.Always disappointing. This year I planted up a supermarkets pot in a sunnier area -shady in the morning- and it's growing like mad in a large pot.

Oh thank you*Whitewavemark2*. I thought all herbs loved sun. I will move it this very afternoon. Farmor15 - I will try your suggestions, thank you. I am very keen to grow Parsley.

I buy the pots of parsley in supermarket and separate them - planting in fairly rich soil. I've never had much success with seeds, except when plant goes to seed and self-seeds. I think parsley likes moist conditions and seems to do well in partial shade.
Your gritty soil, Skydancer may be too well drained - try it in with more compost and some chicken manure pellets if you have some.

It hates the sun. Likes cool damp shade.

I've tried many times to grow Parsley. Seeds came to nothing. Early this year I was given a Parsley plant which I planted in my herb planter. It started off looking okay and I managed to cut a few sprigs to eat. It's in a gritty soil in the sun and I water it regularly. But it looks absolutely rubbish and not far from death. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? I love the stuff so would love it to thrive.
