Winter Pansies

I used to grow the everyday type pansy in my garden in Spain every year just had to make sure they where never watered in direct sunlight as it scorches them and causes them to wither,also an irrigation system for watering is good we had one at the bottom terrace and all the plants thrived it was set for 3 times daily.

Hi, does anyone here know any pansy varieties that does well in hot and tropical conditions ?

I'm not so keen on pansies but love violas.Mine did nothing this year. I always forget to cut them right back after planting. They don't seem to last me more than one season but then [a bit like grass that never grows where you want it to but sprouts all over the place where you don't] I get little violas appearing in the middle of the lawn or in plant pots with other plants in them.

I have always thrown them away, but have some very pretty colours this year. I will try putting them in a pot for the summer as you suggest, Sel. Geraniums are compulsory here in summer, but I can't bring myself to plant red, pink and cerise together like my neighbours!

I have two pots now into their third year. I can't bear to throw the rather straggly remnants away as there are a few cheerful flowers blooming. I'm just going to add new plants. So, I would say Mamie pop them into some pots and hopefully they'll just continue. They really don't seem to know when to give up, bless 'em

I usually buy them annually. Mine have been good this year flowering through neglect and bad weather.
