Retirement for many is freedom and spare time. When I retired my younger daughter needed someone to look after her three young children as she worked full time and my husband was not well. I missed the social contacts from work and decided to find pen friends. I sent a letter about wanting a penfriend to a gardening magazine and had so many replies that I put the post in a carrier bag each morning when I picked it up from the floor. My handwriting is not good so my husband bought me a computer and I did a CLAIT course. I replied to everyone who had written and sugested a sort of round robin and this evolved into a Pen Friend Club with a monthly newsletter full of letters,a lucky dip ( prizes donated by members) limerick comps etc. It is still going strong after ten years. For some who are socially isolated it has become a life line.
AIBU To Be So Annoyed at the Stupidity of This
