What is nearly?

Nearly is when something (often bad) almost happens but not quite. As in I nearly fell down the stairs.

What are stairs?

Stairs. Although a different spelling I was reminded of how in the past if you stared at someone for too long you were asked ‘got your eyefull?’ I could never understand why people would need a rifle !! 🥴🤷‍♂️

What is a rifle?

A rifle just happens to be my pet name for my famous raspberry trifle which my family love.

What is a pet?

A pet is a domestic or tame animal that humans keep for companionship. Its also something that affectionate humans do to one another.

What is companionship?

Companionship is when a tug boat or pilot boat accompanies a cruise ship out of the harbour.

What is harbour?

A harbour is a place where ships are gathered together for safety. Unfortunately it can also mean a place where rodents and pests gather!

What are rodents?

Rodents are dentures fitted by rogue dentists that don't fit and wobble about a lot.

A wobble is often due to an overabundance of flesh

What is an abundance?

A bun dance is a lovely thing to behold. If you use self raising flour and plenty of baking powder your buns will actually look as if they are dancing as they rise in the oven.
What is POWDER.

Pow-wow was a discussion for important matters used by native Americans in olden times. Pow-duh is similar but you forgot what you wanted to discuss.

What is a discussion?

A discussion is the shortform of the previous name for a rave - disco session.

What is previous?

If you prefer to live your life on the wrong side of the law and have served your time at his Majesty's leisure and have stupidly got caught again. When they check your criminal record they can see you have 'previous' convictions!!

What is majesty?

Ma-jesty is a mother with a weird sense of humour.

What is a mother?

A mother is someone who likes catching moths and pins them to boards, in the way that lepidopterists do.

What are boards?

Boards are spaces used to display information in classrooms where students often become bored staring at them.

What are classrooms?

Class rooms are either lounges or sitting rooms or even drawing rooms depending on which class you, and others, think you aspire to.

What is aspire?

Observe is an old boy playing tennis.

What's tennis?

Tennis is when you get a sore elbow caused by hitting balls over nets too much.

What is elbow?

Elbow is when you are attempting to straighten a bow tie and it infuriatingly keeps sitting askance, hence hell bow.

A skanse is similar to a dance as done in Nordic countries.

What is a dance?

A dance is a triumph, a jubilation, often exclaimed (in parts of Scotland) as "you dancer!" A congratulatory remark noting exceptional achievement.

What is Scotland?

Scotland is the land that Scot bought for his family to live on.
They're an original family, preferring that the men, too, wear skirts!
