Daffodils, yes and camellias, but nothing else. Though there are a lot of plants poking up and buds on the magnolias.

Ive seen sone lovely little snowdrops just coming out in the cemetery this morning as I walked the dog. The Magnolia is about to bloom at the bottom of the garden too. It’s beautiful here today bright blue sky and. not a cloud in sight.

It’s lovely that the sun is shining brightly through my windows but it is showing up all the smears and GC little handprints. I hate cleaning windows, especially the patio doors. How often do you clean yours and do you have any tips on what products to use to make the job easier.

I hate cleaning windows too and when the sun shines brightly they look an absolute disgrace. I use diluted washing up liquid with an old cloth of any type. I find if you really wet them and then use a scrunched up piece of newspaper it can help to avoid smears. Sadly, it can take a few attempts to be really pleased with the results.

Has anyone any better advice on getting sparkling windows?

Both my grandmothers and my mother cleaned their windows with newspaper and vinegar. I presume it worked. We are near the sea so our windows are often salt covered. Only hot water and a soft cloth will do
Yes Fanny I do grow a lot of things. Salad veg, spinach, beans , courgettes, etc

How many house plants have you.? I have fifteen around the house.

When I downsized I had many of my plants adopted. I had far too many. I just have one large plant now but I am looking for some air cleaning ones.

Do you have tubs of flowers in your garden? Summer and/or winter?

Our back garden is patio and a large law, but we've got flowers in pots, troughs and hanging baskets. Mainly summer.

Do you have takeaways at all/very often?

Not very often, maybe three or four times a year.

We have two cars. I only do around 3000 miles a year in mine on average but wouldn’t be without it. Do you have a second car and what is your average mileage per year ?

We have a car each and average 10000 miles a year in each one.
On occasions over the years we have had 3 cars between us and can’t bear the thought of not being able to drive. I love the freedom and independence.

What would you hate to not be able to do?

Apart from not being able to see family, not being able to drive would be at the top of the list, alongside not being able to read.

If you drive what annoys you the most from other drivers? I worry about tailgating.

People who steal your parking space as you’re about to pull in, idiots who mount and drive with two wheels on the pavement because they’re too impatient to wait & give way to oncoming traffic. The way some people drive and park on the school run. That’s just for starters.

I’m considering getting a sewing machine, do any of you have one and if so do you use it much & what kind of things do you make?

I have an ancient Singer which belonged to my grandmother. It still works. I've made curtains etc and taken up hems. I used to make my own summer dresses years ago. Don't do much now though.

Do you actually own many books?

I own well over 1000 - an occupational hazzard as I used to be a librarian! They are mostly reference books on costume, jewellery and the kinds of things I sell online. I also have a lot of biographies, art, history and some classic SF novels. They fill an entire room.

Yes loads. A bookcase in every room and two very large ones in the living room. I loved encyclopaedias as a child but we got rid of those in favour of an iPad. Nothing can quite replace a book though can it?
Have you anything you consider irreplaceable?

Apart from the obvious, family etc..

My poetry collection. I've got masses of poetry books, exercise books full of collected poems, my own and others. It's irreplaceable.

Our nearest town has a street market today. Do you go to street markets?

I used to enjoy looking around a street market but don't go now.

No, not here in Wales, we have St. David’s day.
When was the last time you went to the theatre?

I went to see Strictly the Professionals and also took the grandchildren to see Wind in the Willows before Christmas. I try to support the local theatre, they have some good plays on. I haven’t been to see anything in the West End for a few years, the last thing I saw there was The Jersey Boys.

What was the last thing you saw at the theatre or cinema?

I saw Avatar last week with my grandson. It's very impressive,just not quite my cup of tea perhaps. But any outing with grandchildren is lovely.

I've still got lots of music CD's in spite of streaming services. How do you listen to music?

Usually on Alexa but I too have a lot of CDs.

Do you have photos of your ACs and GCs around the house?

Yes - I have 3 children and 6 grandchildren, so there are one or two 😂- I have now bought a large frame and am planning to move some of the photos in the lounge into this frame and do a sort of collage, which will go on the wall in my entrance hall.

I live on my own and on days like today, I am fretting and fearing over the future. I am a worrier at the best of times so today is not really different. Are you a worrier? Especially about the joys of getting older ? 😂

I am a planner and therefore a worrier. I always imagine the worst scenario and plan for it. Im glad I have no children or grandchildren the way the world is now.

Do you have any essential jobs in your home that need a trade?

Im still trying to get a plasterer to do a small job on my kitchen ceiling where the plumber had to make a hole. I know he will fit me in eventually as he is a relative of my plumber.

Yes we have a toilet that has a very tiny leak. Two plumbers have promised but none have come. … So far !
