Frank Herberts classic SF novel "Dune" back in the 1960s. I could not put it down! It was well ahead of its time on many themes such as jihad, climate change and conservation.

Did you ever steal anything as a kid?

I stole a pair of false eyelashes from Woolworths!

I stole a few plums (my favourite fruit) from the local greengrocers. It wasn’t worth it as I was wracked with guilt and never stole anything again.

Do you enjoy travelling alone?

I scrumped a few apples & plums. I ran into a girl from school in Woolworths one Saturday & she was helping herself to Miners nail varnishes. She tried to give me one but I was too chicken to take it.

What would be your favourite fruit pie or crumble. It’s Rhubarb for me.

did your mum go to work when you were growing up?

My mum worked a few afternoons a week in a local wool shop. I remember slowing my journey home from school when I knew she was working. Home wasn't home without my darling mum

She started when I was about eleven. I remember she bought a new suit, with two skirts, pleated and pencil.

Do you have anyone famous in your family.?

No. But I am apparently descended from the Howard family, of which Catherine Howard was a member.

Clean behind the oven? Ours is integrated, so it's impossible to get to - however, we had a new one last December, and I DID clean behind it then.

Do you wear tights, socks, or have bare legs? I've got bare legs

I usually wear trousers with socks and boots or sandals in summer.

Have you ever been lost? I got very lost with a road diversion that stopped diverting and was driving down endless country lanes as it was going dark

I've been lost quite a few times. The last time was a few days ago, when I took a wrong turn and ended up in the middle of a housing estate. It wasn't my fault, son was navigating and took his eye off his 'phone for a minute

Me too, then another six years wait for the next

Actually, I was 22 (don't know why I put 21)

I breastfed him for 2 months

How many bras do you own? I must have about 7 but only seem to wear 3

Countless bras for every occasion,but pleased I have lined them up neatly in my bedroom drawers.

Do you enjoy travelling alone?

I haven't travelled alone since I was about 17 (63 now) and that was only about 150 miles, on a train. I drive alone, but never far and never on a motorway.

How long have/had you been married? Me, 42 years

I was married for 32 years. Then divorced.

The hot weather is set to end soon. Are you glad? I hope we get some rain. Do you welcome cooler days and possibly rainy days?

I am looking forward to cooler days. Too hot to go out when it's over 30°.

Have you ever bought a house on your own?

Yes - I bought a BTL when the LL was moving to Dubai and wanted a quick sale so I got a bargain.

Do you do any lottteries or competitions regularly? Have you ever won anything?

I do the postcode lottery (only £10 a month) but havnt won anything. I dont do competitions as I cant be bothered with them and have never been a "gambler".

biglouis - What is a BTL and who is LL?

I've never bought a lottery ticket or scratchcard. My husband does both. He also does the Irish lottery, at the bookmaker's. He's won a few times but not recently. He once won £14,000, which was nice.
