We stopped our daily papers papers a few years ago. I occasionally pick up a Daily Paper or the local Evening Telegraph if I’m out and the headline draws me in. I just don’t think they’re worth the money now.

Have you ever belonged to a book club/group.

Whoops missed one there!!

I haven’t noticed any posters on our local buses but they’re all single deckers with usually just an ad for some insurance company or one promoting themselves & their staff or promoting mango tickets on the back of the bus.

No, I no longer have a newspaper every day. I used to always have the local one, but it turned 'weekly' a few years ago.
I buy newspapers occasionally, any one with a headline which catches my eye at the time.
Don't mean to be facetious, but I do need newspapers to line the bottom of Wiggy's cage with.

Do you regularly buy women's magazines? Have you a favourite?

No, never. Can't stand them.

Do you use social media like Facebook,twitter etc?

Facebook to keep in touch with interest groups and some family, though family tend to use WhatsApp now.
Twitter because it gets a quicker response than email when I’ve got a problem with an item or service or a complaint. I’m not really a proper tweeter.

If you drive, do you prefer manual or automatic cars?

I don't drive but do enjoy Women's magazines. My children buy me a yearly subscription for Women's Weekly and Yours as part of my Christmas presents every year.

Do you pack your summer clothes away every year? I have just had a happy time emptying the suitcases that mine go in - winter clothes will go in them eventually.

I put my summer clothes in the wardrobe in the spare room. They take up less space than winter ones.

Do you enjoy being in busy places or do you prefer quieter areas?

I mostly prefer a quieter place, such as a cafe, but of course they don't make as much profit, do they?

I have been called "lovely" here by shop assistants and neighbours. Not just me.It is a term like my duck.

Question: Do you suffer fools gladly?

No, chick (that’s Black Country) here in Derby it’s ‘me duck’;
which isn’t actually anything to do with ?, it’s a derivation from ‘dock’ (or something similar) which is old English for love.

Re fools, I’m very conflict avoidant, but I do tend to give them short shrift if they are particularly stupid.

I say ‘complete clown’ quite a bit ?

What’s the first major news event you remember as a child?

I was 2 when WW2 started, and some of my early memories are of sitting in front of our large Bakelite radio and hearing all about the war. I remember Churchill's voice making some of his famous speeches, etc. And then the announcement of the end of the war in 1945, when I was 8.

Do you like clocks? And do you wear a watch? In spite of modern technology I still like clocks and watches.

I only have one clock now but in my old house there was one in most rooms. I don't feel dressed without my watch.

Have you ever said something and instantly regretted it?

A few times and I can’t bring myself to repeat any of them!

Chat shows, situation comedy and variety shows mainly

Have you tried watching the current news on another channel than the BBC/ITV/Sky to get a different perspective?

I am currently watching Al Jazeera. I find it gives a more balanced and detached view on Ukraine without all the hand wringing and virtue signalling.

I skim through the news on the channels you mention biglouis but I don't watch for long as it's all doom and gloom.

For mobile phone users - what sort of picture do you have as 'wallpaper' ? I have a close-up photo of a rose in my garden.

Doing the ironing this morning I remembered my mother showing me how to iron a shirt. Sleeves first, shoulders, front, back, front and lastly collar. Do you do it this way ?

My wallpaper is a member of my family wearing a colander on his head. It's cute.

Henetha Yes, it was to do with Covid vaccine
BBbevan I learnt collar and shoulders/yoke first, then front and back then sleeves.

Have you ever cancelled a subscription? Were you mailed or emailed frequently about reconsidering?

I didn't renew a subscription and got letters and emails trying to persuade me to buy.

Do you enjoy walking in the countryside or near the sea?

Near the sea, just for the breeze and sound of the waves but as I live near Derby it’s a long walk so I mostly make do with our beautiful countryside.

Are you a cat person or a dog person or neither (I’m definitely a dog person although I have had both over the years)
