It actually happened to me once and was Amazing Grace played by an orchestra as I had written a children's book of that name and this was at the opening night of the play.

Most of these pieces aren’t fanfares (typically a short ceremonial piece for brass instruments), but just pieces of music. I only know two fanfares, Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man and Britten’s Fanfare for St Edmudsbury. Both good, but I really don’t want to walk into anywhere to a fanfare of any sort.

I was at a gathering of a group of clergy recently and there was a group there called Epiphany (classical musicians) who did 'sound portraits'. You sat in an easy chair for 15 mins or so and they improvised music that they felt summarised your soul/personality. It was singly, one of the most moving experiences of my life... and they gave out a cd of the music too. So, I would have that!

Nan I think the song for Trump would be the Carly Simon one ‘You’re So Vain’ but what would he choose himself?

Another vote for Fanfare for the Common Man here - and I would go for the Emerson Lake and Palmer version followed by their take on Copland's Hoedown.
