You e been buying them in the wrong place. As a devotee of cheese scones I buy then wherever I see them. None have been fragile although one, made by specialist celebrity bakers, was so disgusting I binned it. Broke my heart. It had cost £4!!!!

I am sure there was a time - maybe in my teens and 20s when you could buy scones from a shop and cut them in half and butter them without them falling to pieces. The last couple of decades thats not possible - first one of the halves breaks while cutting then they each fall into smaller pieces when you butter them. Have scones changed or do I just buy worse knives than I used to?
