M and S tea bags.

Talking of leaves, could I reuse bay leaves? Say if I made a stew, could I clean them & put in a curry? They are so expensive for the little jars. Does that sound mean 🤣

Have used Yorkshire for years but had noticed a bit of variation over last year.Follow Which magazine and decided to try the top choice in report ie Asda Everyday teabags. Can't taste or see any difference. I even mixed Yorkshire and Asda bags in the caddy and asked friend to make a cuppa. Didn't know which shape she had used but turned out to be Asda, round. (York is square). If anything, the tea was better. For officinados, states on Asda box tea is from Kenya.

Asda Gold teabags. give them a try. Hubby was a hardened PG Tips fan for years but really like these.

Perhaps the amount of tea in the teabags has been reduced. It can vary from 2 grams to 1,2 grams. A favourite trick of producers to sell a smaller amount for the same price.

Try the Loose Leaf Tea Company on line. Before I had to give up tea for medical reasons, they were the only place I could find really good jasmine tea---- and they recommended using the leaves twice.

I use Sainsbury's hope that doesn't change. I buy M&S baked beans, can't face the cost of Heinz a nd the M&S ones are lots cheaper so hope that recipe doesn't change.

I wouldn't bother with Heinz beans any more they don't taste the same as they did. I buy cheap beans, I tip half the sauce out and add salt, pepper, tomato puree and a little maple syrup and then they taste lovely.

Most people in Ireland buy Barry's Tea, like I do myself, and I certainly haven't noticed any change. I'll be on my guard now, but I'd be more than surprised if anything like that happened.

Waitrose reinstated their much loved own label loo roll after a barrage of complaints (mine included) when it was down graded in size and quality.

That’s interesting NotaGran, my local Waitrose hasn’t reinstated the original loo-roll - they’re still selling the awful small thin stuff.

Fairly recently, the DT did one of their frequent food & drinks ratings reviews, and Lidl’s Red label imperial teabags came out top (Knightsbridge range…) so I bought some as obviously, from there, they’re not exactly expensive and it’s a large red box. I was pleasantly surprised, even despite the good review, how nice the resulting tea was! Perhaps worth a try if you have a branch of LIDL near you?

With Yorkshire Tea, you can go on tge website and tell them there's a problem with them. You are asked for details on the box so they know which batch and send you another box. Really good customer service

Do all Yorkshire teabag users know that you can buy ones specifically for hard water?

It occurs to me that someone might have a solution to a niggling little problem re cups of tea.
I add just a splash of semi skimmed milk to my Yorkshire tea, and it's the only thing I use milk for. I buy the smallest amount that's possible , but inevitably I have out of date milk left over every week, which is such a waste. Any solution??

My solution 60 years ago was to give up the milk and drink my tea black. You’d soon get used to it. I can’t bear even a spot of milk in my tea now.

On the plastics in teabags front, I went to a talk given by a Ringtons tea man who said that they don’t use plastic in their teabags, nor in the ones they make for other retailers.

I use Yorkshire tea and I use them twice! Never had a problem with them.

I like really strong "builders tea" and always use 2 tea bags in a cup which I squeeze thoroughly. My default is Yorkshire tea but I've tried everything from cheap to expensive. Lately I found that nothing satisfies my quest for strong tea. Maybe I've just reached a plateau.

In olden times we mixed used tea leaves with oatmeal to feed our pet rabbits. I loved the smell and sampled some myself.

Belatedly - the best ever tea pot (in my opinion, anyway) is the traditional Brown Betty. Not a thing of beauty but makes a good cuppa and the spout never dribbles tea all over the place.

Unfortunately a regular tea pot isn't suited to a single cuppa and the "miniature" tea pots just don't hold the heat to give a good brew.
