Should beans be part of an English fry up? Should Yorkshire puddings be served with any roast?

Definitely no beans. Don’t know how anyone can eat beans in the morning.

Yorkshire pud has its place with any roast in our family even Christmas dinner. With sausages too.

To me, beans and breakfast is not a good match. But lots of people do seem to like this. I agree about tinned tomatoes too, it make me feel nauseous just thinking about it.
Yorkshire puddings are lovely with every kind of meat, but definitely preferable with beef as tradition says.
But these days anything goes, I suppose. Choice is good.

And given that Yorkshire pudding was originally devised to help fill you up and so “stretch” the meat available - why ever not?

Whilst I agree its up to others to decide what they want to eat, I prefer no beans in the morning, even if staying in a hotel and there’s a buffet. I normally chooses scrambled eggs and tomatoes then.
I only want to eat Yorkshire pudding with beef. Mini sausages and stuffing go with either pork or chicken, and mint sauce with lamb. Apple sauce is nice with pork too.

It’s the 21st century, surely we can have beans if we want, as for Yorkshire puddings if I fancy a yorkie with roast pork/chicken/lamb or even Christmas roast turkey I will have one.

One of my favourite Saturday morning breakfasts is baked beans on toast sprinkled with grated cheese yummy.

Personally no beans or tinned toms for breakfast and Yorkshire pudding only with Beef. I had a relation who served the pudding first with Beef Gravy and then the roast and Vegetables.
These days I think anything anyone wants goes. Though we only have Yorkshire pudding with Beef.

I dislike both baked beans and Yorkshire pudding so I'm not going to be eating either at any time of day. But why would anyone mind what other people choose to eat? It's all down to individual taste.
And as for canned tomatoes: the food police should look away now! I absolutely love them with a couple of rashers of smoked bacon and a slice of crispy fried bread - fried in bacon fat, natch - and a splash of Henderson's Relish.

I agree. I don't eat meat or dairy but I occasionally enjoy a batter pudding made with oat milk.

I shy away from a full English these days, and am not a lover of baked beans no matter what time of the day it is. As for Yorkshire pudding, my mother served it with all roasts as it made the meat go further. Not that joints were small in those days; they weren’t. There was always plenty left over to be rehashed the next day. She also served Yorkshire pudding seasoned with sage and onion with her wonderful rabbit stew, and with slow roasted belly pork, both of which which were midweek staples. If I didn’t include YP with every roast I cooked I would have riots on my hands!

I'm a Yorkshire lass and love Yorkshire pudding. We have it with any roast or stew/casserole etc. I think the frozen ones are rubbish however. This is a proper one!

We stayed at a lovely b&b in Wales once where the landlady said she hadn't got any tomatoes for our breakfast so she'd put a slice of pineapple on instead

I have to eat gf Yorkies and they’re a challenge to make so I rarely bother, usually opting for frozen or packet mix.

If I go out for Sunday Lunch with the family I ask for my Yorkshire Pud to be served separately if it’s not gf as there are always plenty of takers. 😂

We’ve just had a cooked breakfast. Enjoyed the beans and yes, we have Yorkshire pudding with any roast meal. Oh dear .

Chacon a son gout. To each his own. Strictly speaking Yorkshire pudding should not be served with any meat, but eaten separately with gravy before the main.

Yorkshire Pudding was never originally restricted to beef it was cooked in the fat of any roast meat and was served first with gravy to fill up people.
I doubt if anyone is still doing that.
The roast beef tradition came later so it's just another adaptation. Like the shape. Small round ones are usually now served. My GCs were recently introduced to one of my dad's favourites, saving some YPs for afters and serving them with Golden Syrup. No idea where that came from,, but they loved it! Have them when and how you like them.

Apparently, my grandfather always had sugar on his Yorkshire pudding!

Ful madames for breakfast here. Fava beans in a home made onion, chili and tomato sauce. With two poached eggs on top.

Oh, and I make my own baked beans with absolutely no sugar!

Yorkshire puddings Only with roast beef and a decent size or more than one, not the piddling little bun tin effort you sometimes get.

And don't get me started on the ubiquity of gravy - why slosh brownness over every roast meal? It should be a discreet pool inside one of the yorkies with roast beef.
