Is it really necessary

The skins usually fall off when they're cooked. I just pick the skins out as the dish is cooking. I couldn't be bothered with deseeding.

My Mum used to skin tomatoes and I always told her she was nuts to do it. She said they tasted better but I couldn’t tell the difference. She used to take a lot of trouble in her cooking.

Life's too short - so I'd use passata in a recipe like that.

Never have, never will. Too busy doing more intersting things.

I de-seed and skin whenever making a sauce unless I am fighting for time. If I'm in a mad rush I chop them very small.

I skin tomatoes, just do not like the texture when cooked, have never de-seeded though.

Stuff that for a game of soldiers - I never do.
Likewise I hardly ever peel apples for pies or crumbles, etc. only exceptions are apple cake and Christmas pud/mincemeat.

For goodness sake - life’s too short to skin and de-seed tomatos. I never do and I use them in a lot of my cooking .

Seeds can taste bitter.

However, I always leave them in, to me it’s part of the flavour.

I've no idea why they suggest this. Life's too short etc . . . !
