HI kitty I bought a Lakeland Cheese box thing and it keeps cheese for ever. We only allow ourselves a matchbox sized piece every day so our lasts longer than we want but its fine in this box.

When I worked in London in the sixties, I was despatched to an eminent cheesmonger in nearby Jermyn Street to pick up an order for my boss. Once I was very late back and had to account for it. I told him I had to wait until an elderly gentleman had finished sampling various cheeses. He smiled and said “Ah yes, did they give him a glass of wine?” I said they did. “That would be the (named the Duke of something or other). He goes in most days to sample and rarely buys anything; it’s his lunch!” ? ?

I am so pleased that, for once, most folk are happy with pre-packed cheese from a supermarket.
I expected a flurry of " oh, I only buy my cheese from a specialist cheese shop".
My favourite cheddar is from Aldi, extra strong mature.
It comes in a resealable pack, which does really reseal and keeps it perfectly fresh.
Their Specially Selected parmesan is also very good.
Like most we eat quite a lot of cheese, it is a good food.

Another cheese-lover here. I try not to buy too much as it's very tempting to over-indulge and it's quite fattening.

Yesterday I took an organic Somerset brie out of the freezer and it de-frosted into a lovely ripe hunk of gorgeousness!

You can use cheddar in cooking. Perhaps buy at the deli counter in you supermarket then you can just buy the amount you think you’ll need.

I use cheese in cooking quite a bit and we also like toasted cheese and ham sandwiches but we seem either to need a lot or not so much!

I use parmesan quite often but don't find that goes off so quickly. And we are having fillet steak with Stilton sauce tonight. I also use mozzarella and gruyere for cooking.

It's cheddar that is discombobulating me!!

We eat a lot of cheese - most of it in cooking, but a cheese and onion sandwich is DH’s all time favourite. We like Cathedral City mature and extra mature and I usually buy it in 350g blocks but if the 550gm is on offer I will buy those and freeze half. We also use Aldi’s Roquefort and a lot of Parmesan.

I buy mine in blocks. We all love cheese (Cathedral City mature) and sometimes a selection to have with crackers. I don't think I've ever thrown cheese away in fact I often buy it twice a week

If I’ve left over cheese I will choose a recipe that uses it up Kitty - in cooking as Monica suggests.

Each week I buy the largest block of cheese Waitrose do , grade 6 and by the following Wednesday DH is out to the local Coop for more. I also use a lot of parmesan and Stilton.

We love cheese. DH snacks on cheese and so will I on occasion. I also use it a lot in cooking. Cheese freezes so why not grate it and pack it in the freezer and just take out a portion when you need it for cooking.

Five different types in the fridge at the moment, we just eat it, never throw any away. Not sure if I should be pleased or not .

I buy a block of grade 5 Cheddar (strong) from Aldi every week and it gets used for lots of dishes including ones that include Parmesan.

We love cheese so I buy Stilton and/or Brie at the same time and then if there's anything left at the end of the week we have a cheesy use up dish for supper.

I always keep some cheese ,double Gloucester usually, in the freezer and it doesn't go crumbly. Also a pack of grated cheese for my little gr8.

I asked DH for cheese when he went to work the other day. Now I have more than I know what to do with. He brought a large block of cheddar, a bag of small mixed cheeses, two blocks of halloumi and two different packs of sliced cheese. There are only two of us!

I buy small packs weekly and it all gets used. I used to buy a large block and like yours it would go green or dry before we used it. No wastage anymore although we sometimes run out by the end of the week. I tried freezing it but found it just went too crumbly when it was defrosted.

It can be frozen. Used to do that but now buy it in pre packed chunks from S'bury and it doesn't last long in our house. The cats like it too.
