TONIGHT`S DINNER

Sounds good Phoenix! We are having salad - again - too hot to cook here still. I have promised a "proper dinner" for Mr Gaga when it cools down a bit. (I do make the salads look pretty though).

Chicken cooked on the ancient rotisserie, which will probably be placed outside and plugged in to the extension lead, as it chucks out far too much heat to cope with in the kitchen in this weather!

Large roasting tin filled with peppers, courgettes, button mushrooms, red onions and cherry tomatoes, seasoned and drizzled with olive oil, which will be bunged in the oven, Mr P's saffron rice.

we are having our Saturday night curry tonight!

I just feel up to it last night was in beddie-bys by 8 oclock.

I think the reason was, we went to lunch on Friday with the rellies and I had lamb Taguine, it didn't seem to taste right,[ although how would I know as I have never had it before]

Anyway, I could not finish it and yesterday felt so ghastly all day which is not like me at. I have, as I said to trevor when we were talking of curry, a caste iron stomach . so IMO it was a bit ^ off^.

So curry it is tonight I am glad to say!

Open prawn sandwiches for tonight but almost didn`t happen. I have no explanation as to why I thought good use by date on the prawn ring meant the fridge and not the freezer I never checked the storage advice. Am so cross with myself had to rush out this afternoon and of course all the prawn rings had gone and they are really good prawns had to settle for others which look ok but lack a certain something.

Also having a guest for tea so not really my best offering. Hey ho I`ll just have to pour a glass to console myself

NanKate - you would have been most welcome! When I was a child, we always had a roast on Sunday, eaten at lunchtime and for tea had cold meat sandwiches, with jelly and blancmange to follow.

I wonder what our parents would have written on this thread 60/70 years ago. Well as it was Sunday perhaps roast beef, veg etc.

Cooked myself a nice fillet steak tonight, with sauté spuds, mushrooms and asparagus, washed down with a soft red. I just felt I deserved it

Roasted veggies, a jacket potato and organic rump steak from Sainsburys which was not large but very nice indeed.
A raspberry panacotta from M&S and some rose wine.

Replete and not looking forward to WW on Tuesday.

Ooh that sounds nice; we love doing butterflied lamb (sometimes on the barbecue). Will try the green beans recipe, we have a huge crop this year.

Butterflied leg of lamb that has been marinading all day in olive oil, lemon juice and rosemary. Will slow roast it and chuck some potatoes out of the garden and carrots into the roasting dish.

South African style green beans (try it, it's delicious): green beans chopped square into smallish pieces, boiled in water to which you have added a chopped onion and one potato. (In other words more green beans than anything else, but all boiled together). When the potato is soft, drain and mash together roughly with a knob of butter and some black pepper.

Elderflower and raspberry jelly with creme fraiche (jelly thanks to the mark down counter at Waitrose).

Whole turbot done in a fish basket on the barbie, piquant potato salad, green bean and tomato salad, salsa verde.

Roasted mediterranean veggies with grated parmesan, rocket and basil salad, and red grapefruit for pud. It's our Fast Day! I'm feeling virtuous for a change - and looking forward to eating more tomorrow....

Tonight DH & I have been to our favourite restaurant, I had moules with Roquefort sauce & frites, & DH had monkfish with a pepper sauce ( with frites of course ) absolutely delicious.

Tonight it's ham and pineapple pizza, potato salad and tomatoes, DH's choice. We had pasta carbonara and a side salad for lunch so we might as well make it Italian for the whole day.

Gazpacho courtesy of Lidl`s speciality Sol&Mar this week. It was delicious with crusty bread needless to say DH baulked at the very idea of cold soup so he had a ham salad

Give them the KFC Nina and you will be in their best books.

DGS are here for dinner. Oldest has requested KFC would I be awful nannie to let them. To late to make my own.

Feel free to drop in Vegasmag Plenty of room in the field for a parachute drop. (This happened once when a blood-streaked man appeared having made a bad landing from his parascending thingy, though I didn't invite him for dinner).

Been out for lunch today and ordered fish gougons in a taco shell with pineapple salsa and salad. It sounds lovely but was very disappointing - soggy fish, taco like concrete and could hardly find the pineapple. I was planning a simple salad for tonight but have now decided it will have to be something more comforting to assuage my disappointment. Mamie - I'd love to come round to yours as your meal sounds amazing!

Last night was salade niçoise but I was too hot to post.
Tonight is barbecued brochettes of duck breast and dried figs soaked in brandy. Salad of pearled spelt, goji berries, sun-dried tomato, French beans (we have a mountain) and diced celery in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We have to try one of Lidl's Spanish wines to see if we need to rush out and buy another case tomorrow.

Lentil, cheese and onion slice for us, with a salad, followed by some French walnuts - we brought some home from our holiday and they taste far better than the shrivelled-up supermarket variety.

It's my 500 calorie day and I have had a tomato and lentil omelette with a sprinkle of parmesan and a few slices of cucumber followed by a satsuma. It sounds odd but I enjoyed it.

No need to feel guilty grannyactivist there are times when a ready meal is just great

Cold chilli & red pepper pork pie (thanks Morrisons deli )big cut oven chips made by hand and salad,some salad dips which are already in the fridge so need using up.
