ASDA smart price mushy peas. Tasty, cheap, very nutritious and not dyed bright green. Comfort food.

So now I will have to go shopping for some of these wicked ingredients. My favourite comfort food: macaroni cheese with extra cheese on top, well browned. Alternatively, Cauliflower cheese with crispy breadcrumb, cheese and sesame seed topping, also well browned.

Scrambled eggs, leftover potatoes fried in butter, crispy bacon and fried bread.

There must be something wrong with me, looking at all your guilty pleasures. Mine is to fry an onion, add a little white wine and to reduce it down, then add a whole bag of king prawns to it and eat it all by myself with a salad. Normally if my DH is around I have to share the prawns and bulk it up with bread. It's a delicious summer lunch.

Normally it's a sandwich or some couscous salad made in bulk on a Monday. Or poached egg on toast.

Flower mushy pea fritters, foodie heaven, but can't get them here any more.

I am gagging for Janthea's fry up. I know that I would have a massive acid reflux though.

I do like mushy peas with fish & chips, some good fish & chip shops who have a sit in, its nice.
Have had reasonable size portion of cod in a pub, along with mushy peas and chunky chips.
For a good plateful , pub wise can recommend the Reindeer in Parsons Street in Banbury £7.85p but its a filler , they also do a good filler meal called Reinedeer Special which is bubblle & Sqeak , and ham with baked beans and fried egg on top.
My favourite with fried eggs is maggi sauce, when I was in RAF in the mid seventys in Germany, on the Dutch border used to go to a cafe in the dutch town of roemond and have a strammer max , which was ham, bread ,and egg and used the maggui sauce in the egg yolk hence liking today.

We always have cold meat (turkey, gammon etc) and bubble and squeak on Boxing day!

When we were kids it was turkey, baked beans, chips and bread and butter on boxing day. Yum. I preferred it to the Christmas Day lunch.

That really thick hot chocolate that I've had in Italy a couple of times - it's just like melted chocolate - a million calories, but so what? I don't go to Italy very often!

Does any one remember Birds Eye Rissoles? My OH and I used to love them and I can still "taste" them to this day.
