Diamondlily I do understand you POV, having also had an ex smear me. I didn't respond and I went away quietly because at the time I did not have the emotional energy to deal with it. Unfortunately this may have caused many people to interpret the silence as guilt. However people will think what they want to even if you did explain.
Yes, addictions or regular consumption of drugs do throw something else into the mix. Harry does freely admit to taking various drugs, and I wonder whether doing that, plus using weird mystic healing therapies, has made him more paranoid and vengeful than he would have been otherwise. (This certainly applies to my estranged son, sadly)
Yes, it does take energy and anger to respond, but I can't just be libelled everywhere. If she'd have kept my real name off of her fantasies, I'd have probably just ignored her, but she didn't.🙄

Apparently today is the five year anniversary of a deadly mudslide in Montecito. Most residents have been evacuated, but it's not known whether H&M have chosen to stay or not.
They probably aren't safe if they leave their home due to extra security challenges of having their kids and dogs, so they might have chosen to stay. Also can probably afford a Safe Room. I'm sure they will be fine, unlike many others.
Will the charities, including Setambule, want the money now and the irrevocable link it will increase or make for them.
The source of charitable funds is being examined in much more detail now and charities have returned donations because the donors, whether corporate or personal are considered to be unacceptable on personal, business, environmental and polital grounds.
Charities may well nor want to to be associated with money coming from someone prepared to sell their family secrets, most, unsubstantiated, to the highest bidder and who has caused so much ruckus and got such negative publicity. Too much baggage comes with the money.
Two things I have learned:
Be careful who you let on your ship, because some people will sink the whole ship, just because they can't be the captain

I'm sure they'll be grateful Glorianny but let's not kid ourselves that his motivation is in anyway altruistic. He's in it for the money and possibly revenge and no amount of charitable donations will change that.

If someone is so unforgiving and bitter and vengeful as this, then what can you do? Sometimes words are not "enough" and an apology does no good if it is not accepted.

I'm not sure that those charities will want to be associated with him re his Taliban claims and drug references.
I agree. There is trouble in most families. Jealousy, bad feelings and misunderstandings. But I think the Royal family are right not to comment. That could make things worse. Who knows how much of anything someone says is true? Both sides would state their beliefs and they will be different?
The book can cause harm but Sadly, Harry will never be welcomed back after this - he has betrayed his own family by acting this way. Its a shame for them all. Just glad the Queen didn't have to witness it all.

I do hope that today sees the end of the media coverage of Harry and his book etc. Apart from the information that there was a queue of one person outside one of London’s largest bookshops when it opened, and in another there were more staff than customers and in a third the reporters were stopping passers by because no-one was coming out having purchased it..
I think he would be well advised to return to his wife and family and just get on with the life he has chosen. He has used every device possible to “tell his truth”. Well, he’s told it, a lot of it was heartbreakingly sad, he has vented, he can do no more. Take a deep breath and look to the future now and close the door on the past. If he can’t do this, that all the furore has been for nothing.

I’m relying on it. I do intend to read it, but only when I can get it in the 3 books for £1 offer at our local charity shop.

This represents a seven point drop since the previous survey in early December. Currently, approach two thirds of Britons (64%) have a negative view of the fifth in line to the throne, up from 59%. Even younger Britons, who generally tended to hold favourable views of Prince Harry, are now divided, with 41% having a positive impression and 41% a negative one. In December’s survey there had been a twenty-point lead, with 49% holding a positive view and 29% a negative one. Attitudes towards King Charles, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle remain unchanged since the December survey, but there has a drop in Prince William’s popularity. The number of people with a positive view of the new Prince of Wales has fallen eight points from 77% in December to 69% last week. At the same time the number with a negative view rose from 15% to 20%.
It’ll be interesting to see how the numbers change when people have read the book.
IMO they should remain silent. The only way to 'win the game' is by refusing to play it. Those who support and believe Harry will do so anyway, though how anyone can baffles me.

But, there are thousands of miles between them, and both have the wealth to live comfortable, cushioned, fulfilled lives.
So, it really would be best all round, if they all just got on with their lives, doing what they do. Both sides to cease with all the briefings.
This ongoing argument just diminishes the reputation of this country, especially abroad.
Our government must be cheering though - despite the absolute shambles this country is now in, the whole thing is getting buried by the media, under an avalanche of royal drivel. 🙄Years ago before my son got into drugs he was quite sensible and even said to me once that having different views is like France and Germany in the war (that both sides thought they were doing the right thing) He used to be ok with us thinking different things, but still getting along.
Once he had got involved in the Far Right / anti vax and ascension groups, plus taking hallucinogenic drugs all his tolerance vanished.
We always used to admit fault on both sides.
Most people don't have Harry's wealth and privilege though, or access to a therapist whenever they need one. When is it going to stop? I don't doubt he's had a hard time , yet I'm sure his family view him as equally toxic.

I think the RF will have to respond, in some way, sooner or later, to be honest.
The book has shot to the top of the Amazon best seller list, and with purchases and prior orders, it's rocketing up the lists of retail bookshops. So, a lot of people will read it, and a certain proportion, especially across the pond, will believe it all.
Which doesn't do much for their reputations.
From purely personal and recent experience, I found that the less I responded to public allegations and accusations, both verbally to others, and spread all over various social media, (naming me), which were all untrue, the more extreme my accuser got. Keeping a so called "dignified silence" didn't work at all well.
In the end, it required, and got, a robust response, both personally and using a solicitor.
Sitting silent and just taking all the brickbats isn't always the answer.
However, the RF will, rightly, do what they think is the best way.😗
