I’ve signed up with David Lloyd

We don’t have a DL near us so I use the local gym/spa. I’ve only had towels supplied when I’ve stayed at an hotel with a pool, but it sounds a great idea, especially in winter when drying towels is a nightmare.

I've got an off peak membership with DL.
I go to aqua aerobic classes which are very good.

I didn’t opt for the membership that allows you to use their other clubs/pools for free - I’m unlikely to want it. The pool is indoor and not huge, but it’ll be enough for me.

Dd & co. do have that facility though and use a big DL outdoor pool not too far from their home. Great in summer, not too heaving.

It may have changed heath 480, and I'm probably going back pre Covid when I was a member, but yes you could bring in non members and pay for them, I often took my gd swimming there on a Saturday and I remember paying and signing her in at the desk. So on hot days members would bring guests in Sometimes, I was told, those from other DL clubs without outdoor pools could use alternative clubs under their category of membership, they were allowed to do that. My club was outer London, where there 's a proliferation of DLs so nearby ones would be under 10 miles away, hence the crowding around the outdoor pool on a glorious day. Loved using outdoor pool in the winter, I do miss that, it was always warm, just had to brace myself for the getting out

I am a DL member,have been for over 17years,I go every day to swim in the outside pool,I go mostly in the evening.Children can only swim in the pools when there is a lifeguard on duty.Our DL has plenty of child free times,and none are ever allowed in either pool after 7pm.

No idea which DL allows non members in!Would love to know where that is! Ours you have to have a Guest Pass bought for you by a member,they are £30 each and the member has to accompany the guest,so our pool never gets to busy,even on the hottest of days.

I was with David Lloyds where I used to live, I took off peak membership, full was pretty expensive. The gym was very good. The club had outdoor and indoor pool also a spa. The outdoor pool was heated, I enjoyed using it in the winter. One complaint would be on a lovely summer's day, every man and his dog would turn up (non members) impossible to get around the pool. Also I think you got locked into at least an 18 month contract. Where I am now,a sports centre /gym with a 25 metre swimming pool which are part of a public school that is open to the public. Full 7 day membership is only £50 a month, I dread to think what David Lloyds would cost now. Also here, members only have to give a month's notice if they wish to leave.

My husband joined Virgin Active in January. He’s been 3 times!!! 🙄😡. He’s locked in the contract for a year! 🤬

Yes, I do like the fact that towels are included. Dd and Sil belong to a DL elsewhere and with 3 children, towels are certainly a consideration!
Also, since Covid, too many council pools make you book.

I use a gym attached to a Hilton hotel. I've been a member for about 4 years now.

I love that the fluffy towels are included and it has a free coffee bar as part of it with good magazines.

I use the gym very rarely but do use the pool 3 times a week.

I find the lovely surroundings make going there palatable. I don't enjoy it really - but I do go!

I use the spa for a massage when there's an offer on and they did a good job of my nails abd eyebrows for a wedding last year.
I'd never go to a salon for nails and eyebrows normally

There is a David Lloyd nearby but the Hilton is friendly...

I signed with David Llloyd before I retired. 3 mornings a week, mr i walked the digs before work (my job) and I did 30 lengths in the outdoor pool. I loved it. I didn’t use the gym, yoga or Pilates because they were dominated by women who didn’t work and spent a fortune on leotards
