It is a cruel and inhumane policy not to offer them vaccination.

In the book he was told to lockdown in September but refused. Then there was the week long Christmas celebrations. At least he back tracked on that. The book points out how eat out to help out pushed up infections.

JCVI are the experts they are not advocating vaccines for under 18’s except for CEV youngsters, I think they are the experts.

They are going to offer it to 17 year olds imminently, I saw it in the news today. There has been insufficient vaccine supply until now, they must have virtually given up with unvaccinated adults?

I saw that on BBC News this morning, vaccines for those approaching 18.
Unfortunately there is still so much misinformation around concerning vaccines, not sure how high the uptake will be.
London (according to BBC) has a very low uptake of vaccine amongst the young ones.

Sounds grim. Where do you live?

That was a very political method of not answering her question. So you really do not know the answer to her question although you think the Govt has got it all wrong. No solutions?

So the fact that this has been discussed and the issues put forward, not only by people on here (very much including Whitewave), but in all the newspapers and a couple of books for about 18 months will mean nothing. Your reason why it can't be Johnson and his government's fault is that someone did not give you chapter and verse when you asked. You have found your whipping boy just as Johnson wants you to.

He will keep providing you - and no doubt you will find your own "others" too - for as long as it keeps him in power. While you blame "others" you are not looking closely at all the things he promised and hasn't done or promised not to do and has done.

The government led by Johnson are responsible not a member of Gransnet.

Our 18 year old grandson had his first vaccination 4 weeks ago and has second one booked in for end August . As he’s off to university in September hopefully he’ll have some antibody protection by then ?
I think this virus is not going anywhere soon , we had to learn to protect ourselves with masks and frequent hand washing and safe distancing for the past year and even though we’re double jabbed we will carry on protecting ourselves , it has become a way of life and the scientists can only advise what to do , if we choose to say enough is enough I’m not doing this anymore then all we’ve been doing will be wasted and back to square one , Hospitals are already experiencing rapid rise of Covid patients again , does that mean the NHS will be overwhelmed once more just because the safety elements are being ignored by those who’ve given up on looking out for each other and can only think about themselves

Apologies if some-one has already asked this- there are so many posts on this subject- but what freedom are we actually get from tomorrow.?Wearing masks isn’t a great inconvenience, social distancing is actually a good thing as when we go out to eat we don’t have tables right close to one another. Seems the only freedom we are getting is being able to go to nightclubs and ordering drinks at the bar. So for this we will sacrifice heaven knows how many lives both due directly and indirectly to Covid and push the already overburdened NHS and it’s staff to breaking point.As usual with Boris Johnson what he says you’ll get is never as good as it sounds.

The freedom we are getting, is being free to catch the virus more easily.

For many that means having to avoid crowded spaces.

Freedom is semi- lockdown.

He was only 32 and his wife and small children have no daddy. He suffered cerebral blood clots and thrombocytopenia and had previously been fit and healthy. Check out the risk of myocarditis in young people after the Pfizer vaccine.

I'm fed up of hearing that this is all the government's fault. I don't understand people gathering in large numbers at every opportunity, then blaming the government when many people contract the virus. Would you have wanted to be in that crowd at the football or the tennis last week? I wouldn't. Even if some situations are allowed I would be making up my own mind whether it is safe and behave accordingly. We have to take responsibility for our own health, we can't just sit back and blame the government if we get ill.

Can someone please explain 'case'? As I see it, it means someone has taken a pcr test and it came back positive. Even the Govt said, months ago, that the pcr test is not accurate and still people clammer to get tested. A 'case' is simply a test result (either true or false) but does not mean that person is in hospital, on a ventilater, at death's door or just has a slight cough and sore throat. You need to ignore the 'case' numbers, look to the number of daily deaths and then look at the cause of those deaths and the ages of the people that died. Every death is a tragedy but what's worse is if that person was documented as a 'covid' death when they really died from a long held, terminal illness. They deserve to have the truth known and not just become a covid statistic. As for Whitty saying we may end up back in lockdown. Did any of you every believe we were getting 'Freedom'? Come on guys, really?

It was Jeremy Hunt who said it may happen on Saturday. That’s the first time I’ve seen it reported as a clear possibility.

Actually if you read it I don't think he said there would be a lockdown either.

This is where I saw it Alegrias1, but it may be the usual press assumption rather than his specific words! If his prophecy does come true in terms of hospital admissions, it’s probably a fair assumption to make - let’s hope it doesn’t come to that.

I think its the use of the word "lockdown" that gets me Casdon.

"Lockdown" means we're in our houses for 23 hours a day, shops are shut and possibly schools as well. "Restrictions" might mean fewer people in your house and you have to wear a mask in Tesco's.

I’ve just read that Chris Whitty has said that England could be sent into another lockdown within weeks as Covid cases are rising fast. Am I imagining it or is this not the same Chris Whitty who stood alongside BJ only last Monday and appeared to endorse lifting restrictions from the 19th? How can anyone have any faith in this government they obviously don’t have a clue what to do next.

Presumably you have all the answers and have some ideas on how the variants can be stopped in their tracks, how to get the international community to cooperate and work in tandem?

From all I see and hear all governments have made mistakes even those that shouted loudest in the early days have gone quiet as their own countries have succumbed and a number have been found to be less than honest in the statistics they provide.
