Why doesn’t he self isolate for 14 days? then if he is ok and you are all isolated for 14 days and are all ok, he can then come and stay with you.

Presumably you will not be self isolating for much longer if you have your DD and GC with you?

No, we're self isolating. I think it's sensible. I'm older but want to be around for a bit longer. I'm not taking any risks. I'll go out, but for walks where there is no one around. He's not self isolating so I guess that's him out for a while.

His daughter IS thinking of him by avoiding unnecessary travel.
You are self-isolating as your daughter has symptoms. So as you've come home to her you stay put with her now.
Your bloke is not self-isolating so can go out within reason.
It's a few weeks. Presumably he has a phone and internet access. You can keep in touch. He'll cope. He has to.
Don't wish to sound harsh but sympathy where it's due at the moment....

I work abroad. My daughter and grandson live in my house in the UK. Monday, I travelled back to the UK, to my house where D and GS are.

My bloke, who I haven't seen for a month since I was last in the UK, wants me to see him, BUT I'd already decided to isolate before I got back.

It is hard EV, because it is already a month since I saw him last and he is lonely. You can dismiss that if you like, but it doesn't change the situation.

Why is this isolation proving difficult for some people ? It doesn't take a minutes thought if your health's at stake.

You mentioned on GN Sunday your daughter suspected she had the virus and you were staying with them but you were due to go home on Monday and you work abroad.

Now today you are saying you presumably did not go home as you are self isolating with your daughter.

I appreciate you are worried for ' your bloke ' but presumably he too lives abroad? Or is he in the UK and you live and work abroad.?

If he is in this country why would you potentially pass on the virus and if he lives abroad could you get back to your residence and workplace anyway if he too lives abroad.

Why don't you self isolate with him?

I can imagine but remember, it'll pass and life will get back to normal and if he's like some people I know, he'll be smug about not isolating and being independent.

I'm sure she is following the advice from the country where she currently is and wisely not travelling.
I can appreciate you worrying about your partner but he is an adult, his choice not to isolate and again, his choice in the number of people in his life.

I’m in the uk now. I feel that I should isolate for safety. But feel sorry for him.

If you need to self-isolate, you shouldn’t be seeing him. Are there support groups in his area?
