I do try to have a project for the `long` holiday and have found one for this year, no point waiting to buy the bits, clogging up the delivery vans when they will be packed full to the brim for the last-minute shoppers

One year, the first Christmas after I was widowed, I bought a spinning wheel kit, bare wood and all in pieces. Assembly kept me busy for weeks and I use that lovely wheel often

I did not bother with a project last year but went down the disposable route, big mistake

I'm going going to carry on with crocheting my Christmas baubles. The main colour is white, from an unravelled cardigan of DH's aunt, with one of two rows of colour from the rest of my wool stash. A few embroidered chain or cross stitches with gold thread and voilà! They're great stocking fillers and the children each get a few each year. And they're unbreakable!

The only problem is that you have to stuff them as you go which means carrying an extra bag with stuffing if I'm taking it to do on the train.

I knit super chunky wool blankets (all year round) for my GC, (and even their friends,if they ask) but i am trying to do some dolls clothes too this year for GD and its turned out so intricate for such a small project! 😆

A doll and making clothes, that would be a lovely project. It could be a baby doll with an old style knitted pram suit or an older doll with dresses etc

I have a book called Mouche and friends, it is fab and I have made three animals so far, all they need is eg some little bits of wool from the likes of Jamieson of Shetland and some thin dpns. It would take the whole week to make just one animal
