Mince pies and when to eat them…

Mince pies are appearing in the shops now and I find them a terrible temptation to not buy now. Unless I have a weak moment I do try not to eat mince pies until December - what about you?

Thinking of mince pies reminds me of the moment I put my foot in it or actually my mouth in it big time. Whilst at a toddlers group Xmas tea party where we all took mince pies I was sat next to another mum chatting away. Biteing into a wholewheat pastry looking mince pie I exclaimed, ugh this is horrible tastes like dog biscuits( Dont know how I could know that) yes you’ve guessed it, they were the ones she had made!!

Namsnanny, well it’s the proof of the pudding, isn’t it……?
Well done Mr N!

Not tempted yet ... but I bought a jar of boozy mincemeat the other day in readiness. It will have to be bought pastry as mine attempt at shortcrust doesn't bear thinking about ? .

Had our first sprouts last night.

Our local family run bakery sells the best mince pies I’ve ever had, but they don’t start selling them until December. We usually have a bakery treat on a Wednesday, when Mr. B collects the bread order. It’s gingerbread just now, that will change after Hallowe’en. If you fancy a mince pie then go for it!

Ooh, you’ve reminded me of gingerbread - I usually make some around Halloween/Bonfire Night Time. Delish!

We make mince pies for home consumption on Christmas Eve, usually while listening to Christmas from Kings, so that'll be when we have our first ones.

Gingerbread on the other hand is an all-year round necessity!
