Can Russell Brand have a fair trial after the Dispatches documentary?

This is not about guilt or innocence and I am not defending him but I not believe his trial could possibly fair after such a damning documentary.

If he is guilty and the documentary means he is not charged then that’s all his poor victims having gone through the agonising trial for nothing and the rather arrogant Brand will be all over our TV screens again.

If he is innocent and the documentary whipped up a “me too” frenzy then the man obviously does not deserve to go to jail.

I am sceptical that the jury can give an unbiased verdict.

There was so much publicity in the media surrounding that documentary.

The documentary and widespread interest in social media could affect the outcome of this trial. And if Brand is guilty but walks free as you say Sago the women affected will never see justice.
I am pessimistic about this.

Am wondering though if the testimony of those who reported they knew what Brand was like when at the height of his fame but did nothing about it, will have enough clout with the jury.

I wouldn't like to be on the jury. I'd be surprised if he's not guilty as sin, but how you can arrive at an impartial judgement when there has been so much coverage?

Having said that, without the expose there is no saying that he would have come to court at all, so I don't know.
