Can Russell Brand have a fair trial after the Dispatches documentary?

Agreed, but sometimes media exposure is what brings someone to trial.

We all know of other personalities who were only dealt with because their victims went to the media (and one who got to his grave without their being believed). There is currently a 'well known individual' who has taken an injunction out on ITV, and the Guardian, claiming that he may be compelled to take his own life if they publish the allegations against him.

Having celebrity status can't be allowed to continue as a way of escaping justice when it comes to sexual offences.

This is the problem with 'trial by media'.

I wouldn't like to be on the jury. I'd be surprised if he's not guilty as sin, but how you can arrive at an impartial judgement when there has been so much coverage?

Having said that, without the expose there is no saying that he would have come to court at all, so I don't know.

Am wondering though if the testimony of those who reported they knew what Brand was like when at the height of his fame but did nothing about it, will have enough clout with the jury.

The documentary and widespread interest in social media could affect the outcome of this trial. And if Brand is guilty but walks free as you say Sago the women affected will never see justice.
I am pessimistic about this.

There was so much publicity in the media surrounding that documentary.
