Today ,get the bus into Bicester earlier ,have a coffee ,and then get my hair cut before I do a shop , hopefully see people I know.
Return to watch tour de France on TV after lunch.
Health OK,

Good morning from a clear, cool Bristol. The birds are fairly quiet; are they in eclipse.
fgt, I hope you got home safely. And, yes, adjusting to solo life takes time and much emotional energy. Well done you!
Yesterday, I got to church a little before 0930 for morning prayers as usual to find the church uncharacteristically locked. The secretary was there and used het keys for me. As she finished, the vicar came breezing in saying that he’d decided too open at 0930 instead of much earlier…
FAB cafe had most of the usual suspects but seem less energetic than usual. It’s closed next week for work in the church. The new heating is finally being put in - ironic in this heat!
I was offered two other rooms:
;one is too small to comfortably accommodate more than about 8; the other is lovely but access to water is virtually impossible. I have refused absolutely to do the hosting for that reason.
It was too hot, and I was too tired to go to the meeting in the afternoon so spent a happy afternoon assembling the thing I’d got from IKEA.
Today will be spent defrosting my fridge/freezer and doing some baking so the icing has time to set before being taken up tomorrow afternoon.
Bon voyage to the travellers, hugs to sickbay-ers. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from s somerset, one degree cooler today, I am thankful for small mercies

Up early today, I wanted to try and cool the house and anyway ocado is arriving from 7am. I have had my breakfast and my car is packed and ready to go to my allotment as soon as everything is away. On the spur of the moment, I ordered magnums, I have not eaten ice cream for two years. I am a self-confessed ice cream addict

The de-cluttered fabric has all gone, 5 heavy black bags and twice I opened them up and took fabric out to keep. I am happy with what I have at home now. Yesterday I finished the first of two Charlie tops. I do like this one, especially the slightly gathered sleeves and the tidy neckband, The feel is so cosy and soft, it is a lovely easy pattern and all the better since I adjusted the waistband and length

Today I will finish the second Charlie and will also cut out a rescued fabric for a large cushion cover, I have that fabric draped on my sofa now and like what I see. That will be done after lunch but first I am going to dig out all my remaining Charlotte potatoes, to store in brown paper bags. The clay soil is becoming very hard now and I need to get that job done.

I need to put a large trug of rose cuttings into an allotment compost bin and am taking my special compost turner with me, to wind in and then pull up to mix the compost properly in each of my three large compost bins. I should have good compost by next year. I will need to give them all some water.

I have 000s of compost worms in my hotbins at home, have not seen any in my allotment bins yet, perhaps moisture will help entice them

It is just too hot to cycle and I get too hot when I go to the allotment during the evening, like last night, all that fetching and carrying of water makes me exercise too much and I am better exercising early in the day, I don`t recover quickly enough for bedtime and then I wake up hot

Good morning from Mallorca where it is lovely and cool at present but will rise to scorchio during the day.

We had a long day yesterday, both my Treasures had moments of ‘strong feelings’ but on the whole they were troopers.

DD3 is a star, so efficient at driving us to where we needed to be. It’s absolutely beautiful here, so peaceful, lots of birds (we have so few in Malta😞)

We have yet to try the pool but it looks lovely and there aren’t a lot of other people here so very relaxed.

I think we might be going to the dinosaur park later, I don’t mind what we do . It’s just lovely having my three Treasures all to myself.🥰

Hope you had a lovely birthday ginny, I’m sorry I didn’t see it in time to post yesterday.

I’m just having my tea sitting outside, photos in case you’re interested.

I won’t ramble on. Wishing a good day to all and thoughts to all who aren’t having an easy time of it.☀️🤗

I’m amazed at your industry, karma, but even more at the number of garments you make yourself. Your wardrobe must be packed! When do you wear them?

grandMattie Thu 16-Jul-26 05:49:53

Lucky you bellas, just hope the pool lives up to expectations. The boys do know how to swim, don’t they?

Good morning, high cloud here on the hillside in south Glos, another hot day ahead.
As usual I enjoyed my trip to the hairdresser yesterday, the lovely ladies there are a real tonic.
Gosh, you are busy Karma, my compost bins house slow worms, they nest in them every year so I rarely can access the contents! We keep topping them up with green material and often these beautiful creatures are on the top of the compost when you open the lid.
I’ll water my pots first thing then it’s the usual routine, nothing planned.
I unpicked the embroidery I started on Saturday; I’d added a stabilising backing fabric but it’s making the’feel’ too bulky. I will restart it today.
Have a lovely day, hugs to all who need one x

"Good Mooring"? Are you on a canal somewhere?

baubles Thu 16-Jul-26 05:58:34

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. It’s cool and looks slightly misty outside.

Up early as we are childminding all day, I’m looking forward to seeing the children, I’ve missed them.
Not sure what we’ll do with them, beach or park probably, either way a picnic will be involved.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from a fresher feeling corner of La Sarthe following a thunderstorm yesterday afternoon which brought welcome rain! Our water butt went from bone dry to full and the garden looks greener and grateful!

Similar weather affected the Dordogne yesterday preventing my DGD from pursuing the activity planned by her school for the girls. She is sleeping in a top bunk where there is no ladder! Apparently, she was the only one of her group of three friends fit enough to negotiate it. No doubt her dancing skills have helped.

I hope you enjoy your Majorcan break, Bellasnana with family.

Have a good day, everyone and safe travels to those on the move.

Good morning from cloudy Leicestershire.

Hopefully my DH’s scan will go ahead at 7.45 this morning
I am in pain this morning so we will both be hobbling
After that the plumber is coming.
Our house alarm keeps randomly going off so that needs seeing to.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Greyduster Thu 16-Jul-26 06:38:59

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is, as has been every day this week so far, grey and cool. I slept badly last night.

Still no rain in the forecast. I was forced to put the hose on the top garden last night. If we get more summers like this I shall have to abandon the top bed altogether and garden in pots on the patio. Yesterday’s subject at writer’s group was flowers.

Walking group today in the woods. I shall do the short walk this morning as I still have a problem with my leg after Monday’s travelling. Then I shall have lunch with DD before going home.

Have the best day you can, folks.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 16-Jul-26 06:51:16

Good morning it’s another glorious day here, my cleaning fairies will be arriving first thing.

The 11yr old slept here last night, watched football, oh dear 😡🫣

Another quiet day here at Gravy Grange, will persevere with my book in the garden.

Enjoy Mallorca Bellasnana 🌞

Hope Marydoll has an easier day 🙋‍♀️

Good morning from Sheffield
I had to have a tooth out yesterday. It was a big molar that had been attempted to be extracted three years ago but the dentist couldn’t get it out. They left the rest it in with a filling cap on.
It has gradually got worse so so my new NHS( get me!) had another attempt yesterday
I was warned that I may have to be referred to the dental hospital so I was a little bit trepidatious to say the least , anyway my wonderful Dentist managed to get it all out. No pain whatsoever just a lot of pressure and pulling.
I was so relieved it went well.
I took very steady yesterday and intend to do very little today also. I already feel better that it has gone.
Family are coming today for tea but I’m just doing a chicken and salad.
Take care of everyone.flowers

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. Blue sky and sunshine again, maybe a degree or two cooler today. More people at yoga yesterday, when I started going last year there were 7 of us, yesterday there were 17! Afterwards I cleared out the porch, which was very dusty with loads of cobwebs.
I have an Ocado delivery this morning, then someone is coming to measure the porch doors for some sort of blinds to shade them from the afternoon and evening sun. Then my hairdresser is coming - to cut it short again or leave it a bit longer?
The 11 year old has her leavers disco after school, last day of junior school tomorrow!

bellasnana enjoy your holiday with your treasures.

karma I’m envious of your energy, I wish I had half of it! The spirit is willing but the body isn’t able.

dragonfly I hope your DH’s scan goes ahead as planned and that he gets the results soon. I hope that your pain eases soon too.

Thinking of all those who are struggling with life’s challenges at the moment and hoping that you are able to deal with them today. I hope marydoll will be posting again soon.

Have as good a day as possible everyone.

MawsRosie Thu 16-Jul-26 07:07:29

Oh I see!gringrin
Funny how you read or see what you expect to see!
Good morning from me too.
I am loving these cool, overcast mornings although the sun will no doubt burn off the cloud later this morning, but somehow the hot afternoons seem more bearable if the night and morning have been fresher.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Gagagran Thu 16-Jul-26 07:10:53

Good Morning everyone from a still hot central south coast. No sign of much change in the weather for us and no sign of any rain.

I have my annual eye test this morning and DH will drop me as near as he can but I will still need to hobble to the premises. I suspect that I may need a new prescription but I shall not be purchasing glasses from the store. I use the prescription and get new ones online. Never had a problem with them and so much more reasonably priced.

Hope all GNs with worries or struggles have a better day with some relief.

luluaugust Thu 16-Jul-26 07:20:25

Good morning from W Kent where I am waiting for GS5 to arrive. He is doing work experience and needs a lift this morning. He is loving every minute and would much rather be at work than school. No chance of that of course
I have art group this morning and then DH needs new glasses after treatment.
Best wishes to all

kittylester Thu 16-Jul-26 07:21:59

Good morning all from a cooler North Leicestershire. I expect it will warm up.

Early start as I have an MCI cafe. And then home.

brook2704 Thu 16-Jul-26 07:26:08

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve a misty start to the day but the sun should be out later
I enjoyed a lovely day in Edinburgh yesterday catching up with friends. Today I’ll need to do a food shop but other than that nothing planned. I’ll be outside pottering in the garden, there’s quite a few plants that have grown so quickly that need cutting back and tidying.
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 16-Jul-26 07:30:06

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I think the temperature will be one whole degree cooler than yesterday!

Yesterday’s U3A lunch was fun. There were around 22 of us and it was good to catch up with people.

The situation with the fledgling bird slightly escalated. OH suddenly noticed it had somehow got into our lounge through the conservatory and was peached quietly on a shelf by the television! Meanwhile Ripley was sitting on the sofa and totally oblivious. Milo was asleep upstairs. OH carefully took the little bird outside and left it for its parents to find. We then went out. On our return four hours later we could hear the usual squawking of the parents looking after it.

OH is going to visit his bees today. He’s hoping the new Queen - we call her Camilla - is settling in.

I will try out a new vanilla ice cream recipe and prepare a batch of meatballs for my granddaughter, who is coming to stay tomorrow for a few days.

Have a good day. I hope the MDs are well.

monk08 Thu 16-Jul-26 07:32:00

Good morning all from the Black country, once again it's a cloudy and cooler start to the day.
Just a local shop and a bit of housework planned, then over to our Redditch friends this evening.
dragonfly🤞 your DH's scan goes ahead and your pain begins to ease.
Thoughts with missing posters and virtual hugs where needed.
Have the best day you can everyone whatever your plans and stay cool 😎.

Safe journeys to those travelling

Marzipan22 Thu 16-Jul-26 07:39:16

Good morning from - finally 😃 - my own bed in Cornwall, where a lovely breeze in wafting in from my beloved patio. It took eight hours on the train to get back from Gloucester due to hold ups. I then had an hour to fling my case into my flat, get refreshed and changed and catch a bus to my son's to watch the football.

After that I fancied some night air so I walked a couple of miles to a bus stop in the nearest town and was the only person on a double decker. Finally arrived home again at midnight. I love that my son doesn't fuss over me and insist on driving me everywhere. He knew I'd be safe and happy and enjoy the walk.

Today I'll recce my plants. The verbena is now a giant, there are pods on my pea plants and most things have survived a single watering in my two week absence. Then I'll assemble a wooden bench that arrived when I was away, and walk by the river before the heat builds.
