Something for new Mum ........

I always think it’s such a lovely idea to get Mum something instead of baby!

Gifts I’ve given in the past have ranged from “smellies” to vouchers for a facial, to a nice bottle of wine or pure cotton nighty, all sounds very boring but all seemed happy with their gifts.

Or a hand put together hamper with teas, coffee and the good biscuits! Flowers?

We bought friends of my daughter a restaurant voucher, one that delivered the meal..

Another one I thought of is that we have a branch of Cooks round here with lots of gourmet frozen meals - but I do not know how full their freezer might be.

I also wondered if I might get a hamper and go round our nearby farm shop which is full of delicious goodies and fill it up from there. Just need to find a nice hamper/box.

I remember dd1 being very chuffed after the birth of one of hers, when someone brought her a lot of nice chocolate!

I like your idea of getting her a box of things. What about a box of non-perishable food items - things such as cereal, boxed quick cooking macaroni or rice, peanut butter, jam, crackers, those kinds of things? While her freezer may well be full, it might be handy for her to have these kinds of things around as snacks or in case she needs to make something quick - and because these are non-perishable, they'll last for a long time.

A 'spoil yourself' kit from a leading beauty brand that is used by younger women. Some of the leading beauty houses do 'travel kits' with creams, lotions, and shower gels. Nothing nicer than when you are getting into 'baby' routine than to use a lovely hand or foot cream and use a luxury shower gel.

A large vacuum-insulated cup to keep drinks water ice-cold. A built-in straw so she can sip one-handed if trapped under a sleeping baby.

Or an ice roller - and a zip lock bag to freeze it in.
A gel one maybe so it will be cool for longer.

I second SpinDriftCoastal's pampering kit suggestion, with the addition of a cooling mist face spray.
I had all of my babies in high summer, so this lady has my sympathy.

I have asked my youngest daughter for her suggestion. She has 2 girls and she says she would have loved takeaway vouchers. There were a few evenings when the last thing she wanted to do was to prepare and cook a meal.

I think cooking will go by the by and so getting them the Cook meals would be great. We ordered these recently for our DD who is going through a tough time.
Am sure they could find room for a few of these meals and they are very good quality.

I’ve made up a basket for my niece who’s vegan with products of that nature.
Also a lavender Neom pillow spray.
Going to my first baby shower so will buy the baby a gift & give her the basket then.

I've always stuck with some nice bath/shower gel/shampoo and conditioner but I like the idea of a nice cotton nightie, anything to help her feel more comfortable. The take away vouchers idea would probably be very useful but less personal and you need to know what kind of food the family like.

Deliveroo voucher or similar. My granddaughter said this was the best gift she got!

I sent my friend's daughter a cook delivery.
She was very excited and phoned to thank me.
Her sister and mother also told me so.

I thought this was a neighbour so was looking for less expensive items. And the OP mentions the heat.

If you want to spend more what about a "misting" type fan?

Do some shopping
Do the ironing
Take baby for a walk - eventually and weather permitting of course
Clean the car
Babysit for a short time when mum is desperate for a short nap herself but reluctant to leave baby unattended

I think that Cook probably do vouchers, perhaps that is the best?

Ahh how lovely of you ! I bought a friends daughter some nice pampering products which were aimed at new mums - can't recall the name of the brand. I also added a coffee shop gift card as I knew she enjoyed going out for coffee.
