Would you rather stay your current age or swap the digits around?

For example if you were 80 you would be 8 again

I would be 36, at 36 we had 3 children, the youngest was 5.
I was diagnosed with cancer, it wasn’t a happy age for me.

Thankfully we got through it, I was lucky.

Being 76 would make me 67, so a decade off would help but not be truly life changing.

Now if I could transpose the year 😀 that would make it 19_67 and I'd be 17 which would be perfect. But travelling back to the year, well I guess that's cheating. 😞

Wow. I would be 17! Great age with so much potential and not a clue about what was going to happen 🙈

nanna8 Tue 27-Oct-26 00:40:53

I’d be older if I swapped digits so no thank you !

Nooooooo! Why would anyone want to be young again? I don't, looking back and knowing what I know now.

Frankly, it looks as if youngsters (ie: under 25's) are heading for some type of employment Armaggedon - AI, to the delight of employers, is snapping up all the jobs. And Trump, Putin and other assorted power-hungry politicos have made the world far more dangerous.

I think we're living in Fritz Lang's "Metropolis" hell-hole. I hope I'm wrong though.

I'd be 87 but amazed to have survived so long. I hope I'm healthy, have moved into comfortable sheltered housing and still fit enough to enjoy the good things in life.

But no I'm another who wouldn't want to go through life again.
When I was 7, I was living in NZ, my father had died, I lived with my DGM for long periods while mum was unwell, I had stitches in my lip after a fall and still have the scar. I loved ballet and swimming.
Perhaps I haven't changed so much.

I’d be 46 so yes please, there are some decisions I would change without a doubt.

JamesandJon33 Tue 27-Oct-26 05:12:14

I’d be 18. Going out with DH. Not a care in the world. Lovely, lovely time.
18 now…. I have a GD that age….no thank you.

Purplepixie Tue 27-Oct-26 06:04:34

Yes. I’d like to go back to 47.

GrannyIvy Tue 27-Oct-26 06:50:44

I would be 17 maybe I would do things differently but no I think to go back 30 years to have my mum and dad around and my girls living at home still would be lovely. Each age has happy and sad times but there is no turning back onwards we go

Sadgrandma Tue 27-Oct-26 07:15:37

Yes and no. I am 80, soon to be 81, so would be 8 or 18. I often look at my DGD and really envy her boundless energy and innocence. But who’d want to be a child in today’s world? If I could be 18 again I would go straight to university and not marry so young (18) and definitely nit the man I married, but then I wouldn’t divorce him and marry my second DH and go on to have my wonderful DD and DGD. So I’ll probably stick with No. Would be nice to be so slim again though!

Grantanow Tue 27-Oct-26 08:23:35

I'd be 8 and I certainly don't want to do school again, ever.

Oldnproud Tue 27-Oct-26 08:33:42

I might as well stay the age I am. If I turn the digits around, I will be back in the year my lovely Dad died, and I dont want to go through that again.

BlueBelle Tue 27-Oct-26 08:36:37

Well at 81 I’d be 18 oh that would be lovely but only if I can keep all my 81 years knowledge and not make the million and one mistakes I ve made of this life

TheWeirdoAgain60 Tue 27-Oct-26 08:46:01

My reverse age is 16, but I wouldn't want to reverse/swap it; I'm just very grateful that I've reached 61, as so many many many over the years haven't!

Although a neighbour who died a few days ago, she passed over on her 102nd birthday and was still living alone and doing her own shopping and washing, still laughing, only a couple of months before she went!

eazybee Tue 27-Oct-26 11:02:29

Next year I would be 18, and would definitely swap. First year in college in Swinging Sixties London, and I would take far more advantage of what was on offer, using the knowledge I have acquired since, instead of pining for a lost love and later falling for an equally disastrous one.

Esmay Tue 27-Oct-26 11:10:50

Sorry but be careful of revealing your age.

henetha Tue 27-Oct-26 11:13:04

89 - 98. No thanks.

paddyann54 Tue 27-Oct-26 11:42:49

No,life has been very hard at times but I wouldn,t changea thing. The rollercoaster that has been my life has brought me to a place where Iam ridiculously content with what I have and who I am.
I,m a strong woman and have the best family I could have ever imagined.Oh and a husband who Iwouldnt change for the world

Dylis Tue 27-Oct-26 13:57:56

No thanks!
Today would be my 96th birthday.

Georgesgran Tue 27-Oct-26 17:37:24

Not this year, as 57 isn’t too tempting thank you, but yes to last year, so I’d be 47 and like others, I’d probably change a few things.

Ruby41 Tue 27-Oct-26 17:43:46

At 88, I don’t think it would make a great deal of difference!
