Sadly, I connect this word with reading of the deaths of mothers after childbirth 😢

No, that’s not the meaning. Not as I understand it anyway!!

It’s definitely a “medical” term and I’ve heard it used.

As a an old ex midwife we always used postpartum back in the 1970’s

I’ve heard this word. It means postnatal, surely.

Or postnatal!

I don't think it's American, but I've only heard in medical context- most common use is "postpartum depression".

Postpartum?
I am reminded of this today when a thread has been revived about nappies/ diapers.
I read or hear “ I am 6/8/12/ weeks postpartum”
I only remember saying or hearing “ it is 6/8/12 weeks since my baby was born”
It is another American expression creeping in or is it now common in the childbearing population and midwifery world?
