I will pay but asking for your opinion

I am the opposite. I never ask for any money. Consequently I find myself paying for coffee more often than the other person. Often for their cake too. My husband is the same, always leaping up to pay when we are with other people. We know we are mugs really but it’s how we’re made.
However we really felt insulted when we were invited to a 90th pub birthday party by the son of a man my DH had done some work for and then were asked to pay our share of the meal!

True, I did enjoy myself. However, if it had been me, I would have never asked for travel costs, as it would have had to be done anyway

Think I'd be doing the same to the "friend" showing the hotel costs and all other expenses you incurred to help her out. Not sure I'd be saying she wasn't to bother.

She was going to have to pay for the petrol and tolls anyway. You were doing her a favour. How bizarre.

" Thanks for getting in touch about my fee payment.

My charge for acting as Lady Travel Companion for journeys on the Continent is £100 per day plus all expenses. "

Some friends are tighter than others where money is concerned.

When she says “not to worry as I have paid for other things” does she mean you’re not to worry because you’ve paid for other things and so she is paying for the tolls and petrol?

But why write to tell me the cost of the tolls and petrol, when she had to take it to another one of her homes, whether I was accompanying her or not is beyond me.
I paid the restaurant bills without showing her the prices and no I will not say anything, just putting it down to experience.

Oh that's not good, do you think you have spent more than what the split cost is?, if so I would reply telling her the breakdown of what you have spent, and ask her to contribute as this was her trip , in her interest etc, then give her a wide birth in the future.

Sounds like my ex. His logic ran something like that: What's yours is mine and what's mine's my own. I got rid of him eventually. Dare I suggest you do the same with your alleged "friend"?
By the way, if she asked you to go along in order to help her with the practicalities of selling & buying vehicles, you could gently remind her that your time is worth something, surely?

It’s not very clear what she means, but if she is saying it’s ok, I wonder why she told you she’d split the bill? Very bizarre. I think I would be reluctant to travel with her again if she is expecting you to pay half the tolls and petrol when you seem to have paid the lions share of other costs.

You could offer an itemised bill from your point of view including your time and bill her for the balance?
