Good afternoon, Michael12 and all!

Michael12, I'm happy the scan is finally over, and I hope you get very good results from it. I also wish you well in your friendship with the other person.

karmalady, I LOVE the sweatshirt, and you like the heavy rain as I do!

I read an online report today from the Mirror: ''Regular tea drinking linked to lower risk of stroke and heart disease''. Drinking tea 3 or more times a week is linked to an 11% lower risk of stroke or heart problems if you drink it at normal temperature, but if you like it burning hot, it increases the risk by 16%! I can't have it burning hot!

''6-8 cups of tea per day was pinpointed as the specific volume associated with the lowest estimated risk of vascular disease among weekly tea drinkers''.

Scientists spent 9 years testing almost 500,000 people!

In every 24 hours, I guzzle 3 or 4 mugs, as well as the flasks I take out on my walkies!

Being my day off today, I didn't crash out of bed until 9:50! Snuggled in with the big fat duvet and hot water bottles, I was!

It's been tipping it down all day today and very cold and windy, still is, - gorgeous! - So I've been walking in it with my flask and a couple of bananas!

Thinking of ''Minion food'', as I love different things in my drinking water bottles: I have sliced cucumber with the cold water, tangerine segments, various fruits. Last night I sliced a banana and dropped them in the bottle, then filled it with cold water, put the lid on and shook it a bit, then left it for an hour on my bedside table with my 2 normal water bottles, and after an hour I drank some, and it was lovely!

Tonight, coming up for dinner, I have a ton of Fray Bentos meatballs in gravy, with egg mayo dip, washed down with another cuppa!

For those of you who love cats and comedy, on FB I follow Ginger and Pepper - Cinnamon's Survival Skills, Mersha.theminipanther, Forgi Forfun, Wacky Onsie, Evora.Co, and a Chinese one I can't spell or pronounce. No cats were harmed during the making of the videos; they all volunteered to be ''eaten'' by the gobble monster! I absolutely howl with laughter!

See you later!

Marydoll now is the time to put your feet up and pull up the metaphorical drawbridge.

Sending you (((hugs))) 🌺🌺🌺

Marydoll Fri 23-Oct-26 12:51:40

Thank you for all the good wishes. I am feeling rather grim, but doing as I am told. wink

I have sent a message to all my church contacts, explaining I am unavailable this weekend and to speak to the P.P.
Now he will get an idea of how much I take off his shoulders.

I am feeling quite pleased with myself.

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 23-Oct-26 12:29:51

Love to Bellas and MaryD.

Life can be so difficult.

Litterpicker Fri 23-Oct-26 12:27:42

Marydoll, I’m glad you got to see your old GP and hope the increased heart meds help.

Stormy night here in coastal West Sussex - I heard the food waste bin blowing around outside when I went to bed but just left it as the collection was this morning, early. DH removed it from outside our opposite neighbour’s when the men had been. I am struggling with the season - not enough distraction from the increasing cold and darkness. I have plenty to do but not enough motivation to do it! A pot of orange peel and juice is waiting in the kitchen and the bag of pips etc is dripping into a bowl. The oranges have been in the freezer since January. I love ‘real’ marmalade - few commercial ones or the tinned oranges have quite the tang of homemade from Seville oranges. I will be cheered up when I have a few jars to see us through until January 😊.

madeleine, I hope your son recovers speedily now that he is getting hospital treatment.

Mike, glad to hear your MRI went well.

Best wishes to all the windswept Gransnetters. Thinking of Marzipan down in Cornwall and all temporarily without electricity.

Grandmabatty Fri 23-Oct-26 12:21:58

Marydoll definitely rest. No church business! Please take care of yourself

Marydoll Fri 23-Oct-26 12:19:56

Thank you, FGT . ❤️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 23-Oct-26 12:09:48

Rest up now Marydoll you’re under doctor’s orders. I’m sure we’re all hoping your bloods are okay and you get some reassurance soon. Hopefully the extra meds will show an improvement in your symptoms.

Marydoll Fri 23-Oct-26 11:46:41

Back from doctors. I am grounded!

Heart meds increased, until bloods come back next week.
Something is also going with my lungs. 😪

At least I was not sent to A&E, which I feared!

An easy day for me!!

GrannyIvy Fri 23-Oct-26 10:38:11

Good morning from a dry Cambridgeshire at the moment but rain expected.

BlueSapphire I am enjoying hearing about your cruise and your cabin looks lovely. Please give Bellas my best wishes and hope she is doing ok.

Madeleine hope your son will be ok I have had cellulitis of my ear and not pleasant. Do hope you will get to see him and your GS tmrw.

* Marydoll* I’m so sorry you are really struggling 💐

Today I’m off to the farm shop to place my Christmas order then call in Waitrose and home to do the ironing and bake a birthday cake for a friend visiting this weekend.

Keep safe and warm everyone. Will try and post some of my autumn tubs which cheer me up.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 23-Oct-26 10:15:02

Your cabin looks luxurious BlueSapphire! You sound as though you’re having a great time with sunshine too - an added bonus for your deck walk. Give Bellasnana a hug from me tomorrow please. We’ve been pm-ing. She’s going through a debilitating time poor lady.

HelterSkelter1 Fri 23-Oct-26 09:55:28

Sounds lovely BlueSapphire.
Best wishes to Bella. I look forward to reading her posts soon. Her life and surroundings so different from mine. So interesting.

BlueSapphire Fri 23-Oct-26 09:32:36

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Mediterranean day!
Just had breakfast and about to do my mile round the deck - I need to walk off the delicious food!
Yesterday I walked, read, and also did a ballet class in the afternoon.
Lunch will be something Asian in the Asian restaurant, and dinner is yet to be decided.

Last night I went to the theatre where we saw an excellent Beatles tribute band, and tonight is Abba night!

Tomorrow we are in Malta where I am hoping to meet Bellasnanna.

Posting a picture of my beautiful cabin, taken just a few moments ago.

GrannySomerset Fri 23-Oct-26 09:18:32

We seem to have missed the promised heavy rain and the sun is actually trying to peep through the clouds. Oldies’ coffee morning if I can actually get myself out of the house in time then back to make a batch of mincemeat so that it has time to mature before I need to use it.

Hope Marydoll has a helpful consultation and the rest of us have a good day.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 23-Oct-26 09:08:12

We then went to Sainsbury’s where the prices of some everyday items seem to have increased in price since last week

Susan56 I’m with you there and it’s not ‘just pennies’. I did a bit of grocery shopping yesterday to take to my stepfather. I nipped into my larder for it. He likes a certain brand of Scottish salmon fillets. They come in a pack of two and before I went on holiday the price was £4.95 - expensive enough compared to cheaper ones on offer but I was staggered to see the price yesterday! £7.50! 😮 (discount with my loyalty card but that won’t be a given next time).

I think you notice jumps in prices when buying the same regular items.

Good morning from chilly South Lanarkshire. There’s been a frost overnight, my bedroom window is always open and the room felt distinctly cooler today.

Yesterday was fine, home late as usual though and we were tired.

Absolutely no plans today other than washing my hair going for a walk later.

Sending good wishes for your son Madeleine and to you Marydoll, I hope your GP can help you.

Have the best day possible everyone.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 23-Oct-26 08:49:48

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s currently dry after rain during the night. 11°C will be our high and more rain is forecast. Storm Austen isn’t a factor in this neck if the woods then.

I don’t have any calls on my time today. I can stay home and have a pj day and read/watch Fauda on Netflix. Or I could jump on the bus and go to M&S food hall at the Trafford Centre ahead of the half term crowds of this weekend and next week. Or I could go over the road, catch a train into Manchester Oxford Road and visit an art gallery then sit with a coffee or a wine and people watch.

Decisions, decisions. Time for a 2nd TiB anyway ….. 😁

Liberty Fri 23-Oct-26 08:45:26

Good morning from a wet Suffolk after a lovely sunny autumnal day yesterday. I didn’t hear the wind in the night but it must have been quite strong as the waterproofcover on the outdoor sofa in the back yard is lying on the ground . We obviously didn’t put the ties on when we covered it up.

I feel sorry for the many visitors who will be coming to this part of the world for the half term holiday as the forecast for next week is pretty poor. I imagine the cinemas and indoor activities will be pretty busy.

Apart from the usual dog walk and a trip to the surgery to collect DH’s latest prescription there is nothing I have to do. After a busy week and a busier one next week,I enjoy days like this.

Hope all have a satisfying day.

kittylester Fri 23-Oct-26 08:43:32

Good. Morning all from a fairly bright North Leicestershire.

Preparing a tartiflette for our meal this evening as I have an eye jab appointment at 4pm. DH is struggling with pain and tiredness so won't be able to cook and, anyway, Forest are on TV!!

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Fri 23-Oct-26 08:37:53

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and very grey overhead. Heavy rain is forecast. Glammagran the boys liked Skelly and weren't scared in the slightest. I've brought him in as this weekend isn't looking great.utbb that was a very unkind thing of your friend's daughter to do. Madeleine I hope your ds is on the mend.
Yesterday I had the boys in the morning. They painted Halloween figures I had bought and placed them around the house. Dgs1 was especially cuddly all morning and wanted me to sit beside me. I think he knows something is wrong with his granddad and is seeking comfort. I dropped them off at their aunts and came home where I lay down for half an hour before going to art class. I was glad I had gone as the company was good but I produced nothing worthwhile. I do have a plan for next week though.
Today I intend to go to Aldi and stock up for the week ahead. Then home to catch up on washings etc. I have started a new blood pressure medication and it doesn't agree with me at all. I will give it another day before contacting the surgery. Dinner will be fish of some sort I think. Have a good day all.
