Aldom
If you're looking Mdol thank you for your post. It really made me laugh.
I'm sure it wasn't funny for you two while it was happening though. Glad you survived the adventure even if the contents of the shopping bag didn't do so well!
Aldom, we were in fits of laughter, when we were talking to the train conductor. He was so sharp and witty!
True Glasgow sense of humour.
We weren't really stressed. We knew that all train lines led to Central Station and we would get there eventually!! Even if took hours! 😂
People pay a fortune for sightseeing tours of Glasgow. All it cost us was a train ticket.😉
That's good news Blossoming and a beautiful photo.
Marydoll 😂

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Thanks for the commiserations re house sale. So appreciated.
It's not looking as bad today as I have heard from my buyers who think there shouldn't be a long delay. 🤞🙏
My DSis and DBiL are arriving today to say farewell to this house and I've shopping and cooking to do. Tomorrow we'll go ahead and have a family meal together with my DC and other family members.
Sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well Bellasnanna
I also hope Mick is ok with all his scans .
I am thinking of Stilllearning too.
I was in Edinburgh yesterday for lunch with a friend and saw this rainbow.
Good morning everyone from a sunny Lancashire.
I haven't read any messages yet because I've been cleaning the bathrooms and vacuuming through upstairs while DH has taken the little chap shopping. I'll catch up later.
I can mostly keep the cleaning going during the week by giving the little chap a duster and a dustpan and brush to 'help' me but I don't like using Domestos and bathroom spray cleaners when he's with me, partly because I don't want him seeing where they are hidden!
I'm going to make a brew and sit down with a jigsaw while the house is peaceful.
Wishing you all a lovely Saturday. 🌻
Good morning everyone. Marydoll I think you must have been a comedian in your past life 😀 your posts always give me a chuckle.
Sorry, I've just realised the photo came up twice!
Good morning, Michael12 and all!
Michael12, I'll be thinking of you during your CT scan. Good luck!
This photo was taken just after 11 last night when I crashed out of bed to make a cuppa.

There were 2 slugs on the draining board, as there are regularly anywhere between 1 and 4. There was a medium-sized Martha, stretched out as if she was lounging on the beach, and huge, morbidly obese Mildred, built like a heavily pregnant whale, curled up at a weird angle.
Then, when I switched the kitchen light on, there was long, skinny Sally, clinging to a wall tile! And she's upside down, so I think she was practising her stunt work!
My boss asked me to be on yesterday and off today, so I'm bumming around doing various things.
It looks like Jim, of the Jim/Jane saga, might have found love! There's a professional helicopter pilot who he's been seen with regularly. She said to me ''He's a lovely bloke, isn't he?'' And I replied that yes, he genuinely is. He's intelligent and hard-working, with a wacky sense of humour. Which is all true.
Then, when he spoke to me, he said ''She's a wonderful woman'' and they both said it in a lovely dovey way! AWWWW! I really do hope it works out for them!
Have a brilliant day, all of you!

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s delightfully sunny! We obviously has some rain in the night looking at the decking.
I’m late on parade this morning as has two lovely lengthy chats with my girls.
I have nothing on the calendar (yippee!) so the whole day (and maybe weekend) is mine to totally enjoy as I see fit. Endless possibilities (which I shall probably ignore #lazygran).
No L’il Miss today after seeing her every morning this week for 🚶♀️ to school, no calling in to see my stepfather. What are we called ‘the squeezed middle’ or something? The Boy Wonder has football this morning and tomorrow and he’s joined a gym with some other like minded mates (good to hear of different friendship groups) and L’il Miss has been invited to a birthday party.
I’m still in bed, why not, with a second mug of tea, reading the newspapers and listening to the radio. Nice. Lucky me. ☺️
Good morning from Sunnyside Sandhills northwest coast.
After art yesterday morning, I spent time in town and as I had parked a distance away, did quite a bit of walking, which I needed.
In the evening to DDs’ best friend’s house and a nice gathering. She’s due to have surgery next month, so we caught up on the details. Lots of tasty bits and pieces and I dropped people off as only had one small drink.
I’m driving DD to a friend’s house in the country and they are off to an Octoberfest in costume. Rather her than me. I’m looking forward to a quiet time at home.
Thoughts to Grammaretto and all🌺
Good morning from the east coast and what a lovely day it is.
We arrived home from holiday last night after a lovely 10 days in Olhão Portugal. It’s a lovely place. We hired a car and travelled along the coast. We loved Olhos De Água but couldn’t wait to get out of Albuffeira even after only a couple of hours there. We had my DHs cousin and his wife with us who are the best company so had a lovely time.
Today it’s unpacking, washing and shopping for the family coming tomorrow.
The garden has gone mad. The geraniums look better than ever. We have so many red tomatoes to pick which the DGC can do tomorrow although DGS will pick the green ones too which won’t be too much of a problem with it coming to the end of the season. The multibloom sunflowers were a great surprise when we got home. I now just have to lose the six pound I’ve put on 🤦
The entry and exit system queue getting in and out of Portugal was an hour each way. It takes your picture and fingerprints and still sends you to the manual queue but hey ho it’s something we have to get used to I guess or don’t go.
Hope everyone going on holiday has a lovely time. Thinking of those struggling with stress and illness. 🌻
Hilarious! I am not with it today!!!
Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 9°C
Firstly, I have only just read yesterday’s posts and am so sorry to hear about your house sale. It happened to us and it was the most stressful of times. 💐
Glammagran, Hurrah!!! Your grandchildren must have been delighted to see you.
Gelisa, a worrying time for you both.💐
Yesterday was not a very good day in one way, but positive in another.
My heart and COPD review at the surgery took an hour! My BP was at 173/88 😱 It is higher than DH’s.
My heart needs checked out and I need a referral back to the respiratory consultant. I got a gentle telling off for not seeking help, since I was so unwell. I had sought help, but I kept getting fobbed off.
The practice nurse was so thorough.
The positive outcome is that I have been given a GP appointment with a GP of my choice. Quelle surprise! I had gone into the appointment with low expectations.
I was gently told off for not asking for help sooner. I explained I had tried, but kept getting fobbed off.
I got home and slept for hours; I was so exhausted and felt really dizzy.
Back to Thursday’s adventure, which is basically a rambling account, by a confused old biddy.
Feel free to scroll on by. 😉
After our, not so nice, pub lunch on Thursday, we had decided we would wander along to an old man’s pub which sells craft beer, then go home on a different train line to DD’s village and catch a bus from the village, which would take us very close to home. Otherwise, we would have had a long walk over the quagmire of a field from our usual station. I had been struggling with breathlessness, so the less walking the better.
Of course in MD’s world, nothing goes to plan. You may have seen the photo, I posted yesterday, well it was actually a premonition of what was to come.
We reached to the craft ale pub, only to find it was shut. At this point I was ready for giving up and going home, except…we couldn’t find the station. 😭
Like many stations in Glasgow, it was a low level station, which is why we couldn’t see it. We were actually standing on top of it.
I have never felt so relieved. I even mastered the ticket machine, because all tickets must now be bought before boarding and we were used to buying tickets on the train.
I was quite pleased, until I realised, I had bought returns, instead of singles.
We settled down to wait for the train and in the meantime, as part of the picture clue, I sent DD and SIL a photo of greenery. SIL worked it out immediately. I would recognise that Japanese knotweed anywhere, he said.
The train arrived, we jumped on, ready for the next part of our adventure. However, I began to feel uneasy about the scenery, I didn’t recognise any of it.
When the West Coast Avanti train to London passed on the lower parallel line, ( I didn’t know there was one) I became even more uneasy. The train drew into a station and stopped on the wrong side of the track. That was when I realised we were in big trouble.
I then heard the announcement, This train is for Glasgow Central: we were going back the way we had come. DH was oblivious. I huckled (a good old scots word) DH off, just before it moved off.
DH still hadn’t clocked what was happening.
I then approached a young woman and asked how we could get to DD’s village. She thought we should go to the opposite platform.
Down an underpass, we went to the other platform. By this time, I was ready to give up. Of course, it wasn’t the correct platform. If we had caught a train from that platform, we would have ended up in Lanark. 😱
Back across again, up a lift, over a bridge and down again in a lift. Back to where we started.I hadn’t realised initially, there was a lift and nearly killed myself, trying to manage the stairs.
I decided how to look up, how to get back to our original station, but there were no trains for over an hour. So, we decided to get the next train back to Glasgow Central.
All this time, I was wondering how to explain why Saga Tours participants had been allowed out unaccompanied. The ticket collector –and the whole carriage—were hysterical and ticket collector extremely witty, when I tried to explain how we had got into this mess. He looked at all the tickets, I had accumulated in my moments of panic and said, I had enough to get us to Glasgow Central and back again.
We explained, where we had tried to go to and he asked if we wanted him to give us tickets to DD’s village. I declined and asked if he could print out tickets for our home station. I thought you were going to X, he said. I said we were now going home!!!
He reminded us that we were on a low level train going to Helensburgh (where DH had his BP episode) and to remember to get off at Central.
DH’s face was picture, when he heard “Helensburgh”, a place he will never visit again.😚
What I hadn’t thought of was that, when using the lift, we were going to end up on the main concourse, but had no tickets to exit the barriers.
I found another lovely young man, played the daft old lady and explained what had happened. He couldn’t stop laughing, when I described it. He advised us to explain at the gate, what had happened. Very kindly, he looked up the time of our next train and which platform it would be on.
I tried to explain that we had travelled on trains all over Italy, without getting it wrong.
Aye right!!!
As we got to the platform, I spotted DD. She has been tracking me since I collapsed in Glasgow last year and had left work early to make sure we got the right train home. 😂
She too couldn’t stop laughing.
About an hour later, we received a video of her village station, explaining, what it looked like, so that we would get it right, the next time.
DH said there wouldn’t be a next time. I wonder why????
He had been carrying five heavy boxes of Turkish delight, two polystyrene gliders. (One for Babydoll and one for her daddy) and lamb kebabs. He kept changing hands, because it was so heavy. –I had run amok in the world food shop.--
When I got home, I found the kebab packaging was burst and the gliders and Turkish delight were covered in kebab sauce! 😭
DH doesn’t understand how it happened.🤔
I still feel quite ropey and will be having a gentle day.
Hoping Stilllearning is making progress.
Have the best day you can, folks.
Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny and nippy Carlisle. It's going to be a lovely autumn day.
I've just come back from getting my flu jab. The health centres are having a major campaign day for us oldies. I was amazed to approach my centre and find queues of cars all being marshalled in. I did put off the covid jab Ashcombe as I have other issues at the moment and can't afford to be laid up for a few days as I will be if it's Moderna.
Yesterday I drove round to Sainsbury's and got the items I didn't get from Tesco, my fault. I topped up with petrol, there was no sign of prices coming down.
I came back to a quietish day, had phone chats with DS1 and my brother and finished watching Middlemarch.
I think I'll have a quiet day today too, I seem to have the sniffles. I'll have another go at my clothing collection though. The problem is that I have lots of stuff fit for houseworking etc in that charity shops wouldn't want and I hate throwing things away that I could make use of. Some of my stuff is decades old but quite presentable in the house!
Right! Off to read the papers and get a nice hot coffee, it was only 8°C out.
Have the best possible day everyone.
Morning all from Oxford. I’m just waiting for my train to London. I’m looking forward to a Study Day at the V&A.
Have a good day everyone, especially those of you with difficulties.
Good morning all and another fine day forecast here in Essex,
I long for a bit of ‘wild weather’ Baubles.
Yesterday was full on with clearing out bedroom. Goodness what a lot of ‘stuff’. Dd and I worked so hard . She’s all action when she’s well! Hope she hasn’t overdone it. 10 sack fulls of clothes / other items and rubbish. Some to charity shop and others to the tip.
We got most of the furniture and clothes back in situ and I’ll finish off today.
I had to pop into town to the surgery as my eye drops haven’t arrived at the pharmacy, couldn’t get through on the phone so went up to chase it. Hopefully they’ll be here today.
I must go to town again this morning to transfer money for the new conservatory roof. I can’t do it online as when it’s over a certain amount you have to do ‘ID things’ and it never works 😡.
I’ll pot up some more violas and cyclamen and that will be it for the winter (she says).
I hope you feel better Bella , Madeleine , Marydoll and all others in sick bay. 💐 for all.
Take care all 🌻
Good morning everyone from a very dull and overcast Northampton, but should stay dry.
Yesterday was warm and sunny so I really enjoyed my trip to the pharmacy for my flu jab. It was done very efficiently and after I'd been jabbed, was asked if I'd also like the Covid jab! So I had two for the price of one!
I then walked to the library, had a browse and then realised I'd left my library card at home.
So I went to the little cafe and had a lovely cappucino. Called in at Tesco and chose a bottle of red, and got the bus home.
Spent the afternoon reading more of The Odyssey - I am really enjoying this translation and find it unputdownable.
Most of today to be spent at home with the Saturday newspapers, then DS-in-law picks me up early evening to go to DD's band concert, always an event to look forward to.
Wishing all a pleasant Saturday.
Morning, overcast in S Hants for now, we desperately need sustained rain too Liberty.
Glad you learnt your lesson brook 🤣🤣
Sorry to hear your house news Grammaretto such a stressful time, hopefully it will be resolved quickly
I pottered yesterday as my mouth settles down, more of the same today.
Enjoy your day.
🦩🦩
Good morning everyone.
So many medical problems and appointments! My gout is much improved and blood clots have been ruled out. The painkillers are doing wonders for my arthritic pains too. The tree guy did a good job yesterday and is so careful with the garden plants and clears up so well. We don’t think he charges enough compared with others we have heard about so always pay him a little extra.
Yesterday I enjoyed lunch with DD3 and managed to re jig my wardrobe. Putting away summer tops and getting out jumpers and more robust trousers .
Today youngest DGS is being dropped here for an hour or two whilst his big brother is being taken to play rugby. His Daddy will collect him and they will stay for a short while. DD3 is coming round and we shall havecoffee with her.
After lunch a few bits of food shopping.
DH will then go to collect his Mum and bring her here for dinner. Roast chicken etc. with a good rice pudding after. Two of her favourites.
Hoping you all have as good a day as possible with a smile along the way.
Good morning from a dry NE where the sun is starting to shine.
Lunch with my friend was pleasant and we caught up with family news.
GD2 messaged to say that she came third in a photography competition at Cambo Gardens in the 16 and under section. We loved visiting the gardens when we were in Fife in July.
Today I am going out to lunch to celebrate my cousin's wife's 85th birthday. My cousin has recently been in hospital so I hope he is okay.
Have a good day.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry bright start to the day
After a busy week I’m looking forward to not doing much over the weekend and just pottering about. We’ll probably go out somewhere for a nice coffee this morning, maybe the beach cafe at Rosemarkie and then pick up some food shopping on the way back. Tomorrow we’ve a furniture delivery to wait in for so we’ll be in anyhow. Last night I had a really good night out with friends, not too late though and not too much wine Jax 😇
Hoping everyone has the best day they can, take care all 💐
