Good Morning Friday 11th September 2026

Today is my last day on the island of Ibiza. It’s such a pretty place with all its greenery, the red soil and the cobalt blue sparkling Mediterranean. I shall be sad to leave but 6 nights here on my own has been a sensible decision.

I walked around for a good couple of hours here in Es Caña yesterday after breakfast - deciding against going into Santa Eulalia. I have perhaps too many memories of that town to press on my emotional bruise and didn’t feel quite brave enough to go. Another time perhaps, should I return next September. I’d like to.

I plan a relaxing beach day and shall choose a new novel on my Kindle as I’ve just finished our book club read ‘Yesteryear’. The ending especially was very satisfying tying up all the concerning anomalies. Very clever. I hear it’s going to be made into a film starring Anne Hathaway.

I took this photo at 2pm yesterday from my hotel balcony. I wanted to capture the essence of the Main Street now it has been fully pedestrianised.

Good morning all. It’s bright and sunny but deliciously cool. Beautiful autumn weather we’re having here in Essex.

Yesterday little pooch went to the groomers and I asked them to clean her teeth. She has a very bad back tooth and loose bottom front teeth! I only saw the vet last week for a checkup and she said everything was fine. I’ll try to phone the insurance company to see if teeth are covered. Probably not! A hefty bill is envisaged.

I shopped with DIL so have a freezer and fridge full but there’s always something I haven’t got.

Dd came in after school meeting and helped me pot up some large chrysanthemum plants . Yellow and burnt orange , they look so seasonal. The compost was sooo dry and hard . Dd ferrying watering cans back and forth . It would have been more sensible to use the hose but still on a ban.

I took in my green tomatoes RandL . They ripen in the windowsill.

Today I’ll meet our Friday pals . Dh said he doesn’t want to come, not up to it. 😢. I feel bad for him as they’re all his old school pals (and wives) we’ve known for 60 years. Oh well!

We must decide in his dental plan. I really don’t think he’s up to any sort of procedure as it was a tooth extraction that triggered his stroke 18 months ago. Leave well alone???

Poor Iris GM she’s been through so much already. Bless her with her cake and cat sitting ‘business’. Good for her 😍.

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

DH’s consultant rang yesterday to tell him what they thought was the cancer coming back wasn’t! So we are now back to 6 monthly scans - such a relief!

NWR went on very late last night so feeling a little weary but will go into town to pick up an order and take something back,

DS sent me pictures of him with Natalie Imbruglia last night. He met her in a record shop!

So much for a rest here in Jersey, we managed over 16,000 steps yesterday.

Going to Jersey Zoo today, so no doubt 1,000’s of steps 🙀

As this break was meant to be relaxing after our holiday with DS and family, I am now thinking I will need a holiday to,get over this one…

Good morning from a damp and chilly feeling Suffolk which should,according to the forecast, be sunny soon. We’ll see!

I picked damsons to drop off at a friends who plans to make jam with them and most of them were too squashy to use. I should have picked them a few days ago before the day of rain we recently had. At least she’ll have a couple of kgs for her jam.

I’m meeting another friend for lunch in a nearby town where there is an excellent deli that sells veg samosas and curries made by a local family who do a delivery service on Friday and Saturday. I’m sure I won’t walk by without popping in!

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞 Northampton day, not a cloud in the sky.

Yesterday was also good though a bit breezy, ideal for drying the towels.
An interesting health and well-being talk in the afternoon about the options and help available for carers; I went to support my friend who had organised it, but my neighbour also came with me, and she is becoming a carer for her DH who is in the early stages of dementia. She found it very informative.
After the meeting my neighbour and I chose to walk home to get our daily mile in, which we did easily.

I have neighbours and ex-neighbours coming for coffee and cake this afternoon, so I had better do a bit of dust removal and vacuuming this morning! I found a home-made tea bread in the freezer, and I also have some mini brownies to offer them, along with nice coffee and single cream....

Easy dinner of curry tonight.

Good morning from a dry and bright NE.
The forecast is for 18° today which is pleasant for this time of year.
It is autumnal first and last thing and heating has been on for about an hour both ends of the day.
Had a message from DIL to say that that all the family would visit on Saturday but I should not cook as they are out to lunch with my sister. Should have told me before I did the weekly shop, I have a full fridge and no freezer space.

25 years ago today I was sitting in the hairdressers and remember my hairdresser being annoyed because her husband rang the salon, she said he had strict instructions not to disturb her at work. The look of horror on her face has stayed with me ever since.
She is still my hairdresser but now comes to my home.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it looks like a shower is imminent.
I've just been for a walk though so good timing on my part!

Yesterday I visited my hairdresser and had my wild hair tamed so now I look like a respectable old lady. I went straight back home as it was 2 hours to spare before my dental appointment and I thought better of spending that time, and money, in the centre shops. I had a free brunch at home instead.
The dentist, in spite of my suggestion that it was time to stop fixing the now unreliable crowns and have a new partial plate, insisted on putting the lost crown back. We'll see!
Back home to little jobs and some reading.

Today I will finish fettling my shoes and tidy up the shoe rack. And I have new toys to play with...a wind up radio as recommended by our dear government for apparent impending disasters etc and a bigger, more powerful Nutribullet. Then a relaxing afternoon of reading to follow.

Madeleine, like many multistorey car parks, those disabled facilities don't seem to be designed and tested by those who will be using them.

Good morning all, it's sunny and 12°C here in Glasgow.

I had to get up at the crack of dawn, to take my new medication, which requires a two hour gap, before I take the other meds.
Not wanting to boast, but a I am now taking 22 different meds.
I had just got back into bed, when I got a message, asking to record my BP on the NHS app..
DH asked, why I was downstairs. When I told him, he revealed the batteries were in the BP monitor were flat and I would need to change them. 🤬

Thank you all for your kind messages yesterday. I still feel grim, but not quite as grim😉.
I will be having a gentle day today. No Silverburn for me.😞

When 9/11 happened, I had been decanted to the local high school, in charge 120 pupils, because my own school was being extended.
I passed a number of staff, crowded around a TV. I was horrified, when I saw what was happening, for my MIL was in New York, visiting my BIL and SIL, who worked for the Scottish Government. She was due to f,y home that day.
I frantically phoned my husband. Of course, we couldn't contact MIL.
My BIL was stranded in Philadelphia, not knowing if his wife and mother were safe.
It wasn't until the next day, we managed to contact MIL, we were frantic.
She had flown out, not long before the attack and had gone straight to bed, oblivious to everything that had happened.
It was three months, before BIL could get back into his apparent, which had to be fumigated and deep cleaned, due to rotten food. His fridge had to be destroyed.

Good morning from a cooler Stockport.

I am waiting for workmen to come and start decking in an area in my garden with sustainable decking.
They delivered the material yesterday in heavy rain but of course it is totally water resistant.
I am also having a path laid, it will take two days.

I am supposed to be out tonight to celebrate the “ last year of her 50’s “ of a family friend , I may give an excuse as late nights don’t suit me anymore as I am now in the last year of my 80’s.

Our Yorkshire Lass was working in Chicago for a few months, 25 years ago. When she flew out of NY she saw the twin towers. When she flew home they were no more.

I’ve just finished my continental breakfast and following my second coffee have decided to be braver and go to Santa Eulalia this morning after all.

I suddenly felt I can’t be so near and not visit. Himself would be proud I know. - I’m doing this for him as much as me. x

Good morning from bright and cool South Lanarkshire.

We knew someone who perished in the Towers that day. Not a close friend but he had been part of a friendship group when DH and I were young and we had some good times. I will think about him today.

Family worries are playing on my mind, it hasn’t been an easy week.

Thinking of all with illness or worry to cope with. Have the best day possible.
