Can you guess the year?

.

Goodness! Blast from the past for me. My Granny and (her sister) Great Aunt Lily had this!!
.

No way!
Yes, we had that one. Same colour. 😲

That brings back memories!

OMG - we had these! Early 70s I’d guess? My mum was German and they’ve always had duvets over there. They were called “continental quilts” when they first arrived in the UK. Strange to think we used to sleep under sheets and blankets.

I'm sure we had sheets (flat, not fitted !) and pillows cases in that pattern. 1970s ?

Fab - a blast from the past. I had this patterned quilt in 1974. Matching wallpaper and curtains too: both in lilac and pink. Loved it, but glad styles have changed now 😆

Had one in orange, early 70s

I had the lilac version as curtains in the 70s.

I got this colourway in 1974, I seem to remember it was quite new out and I got it and my first duvet to go to London to work in my first job after leaving Uni.
We still have it as a dust sheet for decorating.

The dreadful '70's fashion and style.

It was, wasnt it.

I remember looking down at myself, what I was wearing in about 1978 and thinking, puh, it is actually quite hideous. And not likely to be seen again.
And this was from me, who has never been that much into fashion.

My parents moved house in 1971 and my sister and I had that duvet cover in our new bedrooms. My sister had the lemon and mustard tones, as in the picture, and I had the lilac and lavender version

We also each had the matching wallpaper, which was exactly the same design and colours as the duvets. The paper needed no pasting - it was put into a tray of water and applied to the walls, which was the main reason we used it.

The bedrooms were small but in the 70s it didn't seem too much. Flower power and psychedelia were everywhere.

The dreadful '70's fashion and style.

I always regard the 70s as the era that style and taste forgot.

Yes early 70 I'd say. I had these ones or very similar..

Yes - wedding presents from my grandad - purple duvet cover, sheet etc. Now used as dust sheets. M&S. Lasted really well.

My MIL had a set of bedding like this in exactly the same colour and design . Definitely mid to late 70’s I got married in 1972

I certainly had a lovely downie as they were called then in the 60s.

Do not think duvet's were around in the 1960's. They became the fashion in the seventies. I can remember trying to get some covers for these on my young children's beds, went round all of central London and there was nothing - just floral like this one. That would have been 1972 -73.

I had my first duvet in 1965. It came from Heals in Tottenham Court Road and it was called a continental quilt. It was made with duck down and it was covered in a dark yellow cotton fabric. It came with a pale yellow, removable plain cotton cover but I used a top sheet with it.

I’d say 1975.

I had that very one,1978, wish I could still get them, now I buy from JYSK but not the same,,, I also remember the same year fibreglass curtains that never faded,

They slid on like a dream.
A couple of shakes, and it was all done.
No lumpy bits or strange corners...

Yes, mostly definitely seventies! And it was from M&S, bought in 1974, though I think they were for sale for a few years in the 70s. Thank you for all the replies. We also had a deep brown sculptured carpet which was also a 70s fad. I think 1974 was very ‘brown, orange and yellow’ for decor. Happy memories. But also pleased to have lovely muted colours in the house now. I wonder if crazy florals will ever be in fashion in the future. I can’t imagine so, but who knows? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Probably mid to late 1970s as one daughter had the pink version for her single bed. Marks and Sparks.

No, we haven't still got it, unfortunately.

Me too!
I'm sure I remember making beds with these covers on, but if they didn't "come out" until the 70s, then I would have been too young to be working.
Perhaps we had similar sheets when I was a child.

In flannelette 😁
