Good Morning Saturday 29th August 2026

Good morning from a murky Morecambe Bay. I had just finished my post when it disappeared so I’ll try again. I’ll write this on Notes and hopefully copy it successfully. I wish I’d learn!
I can just make out the outline of the Lake District Fells, so the predicted thunderstorms are not imminent.
If I can’t see the Fells it’s either raining or about to.
DH reluctantly called into the Surgery yesterday. He was expecting an appointment in about three weeks time, but he was triaged and within half an hour was seeing the Doctor. She thinks the problem may be his hip and has ordered x-rays and a future appointment with the physiotherapist when the results are back.
Painkillers prescribed and additional tablets to stop them upsetting his stomach. Excellent service!
DS3 is calling later and dropping off his dog for a few days. It looks like I’ll be doing a lot of walking as I am not confident to take the two dogs out together.

Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country. No rain yesterday, but it did rain fairly heavily most of Thursday.

Dental appointment yesterday for a small filling. Considering he said it was small, seemed to take ages. Bank account lighter, I walked home via town, took a bag of clothes to the charity shop.

No real plans today, just housework really. Then finish reading my book.

Good morning everyone from a dull Lancashire. We've had plenty of rain in the last couple of days and the garden is looking much happier for it.

Yesterday we had a successful trip to the hairdressers and the little chap looks much tidier. I asked my hairdresser if they have training on doing children's hair and she said not in her experience.

Today DD is coming back for the weekend. A good friend of her's is moving away and there's a surprise sendoff at church tomorrow so she's coming back to be part of the surprise. It will be good to see her.

That's a pretty dress, Karma. I'd keep the frill. I've finished knitting a scarf. I'm torn between adding it to my stash for when I next manage a craft fair stall or wearing it myself this winter as I love the colours.

Time to go and make up the bed in DD's room.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s bright and dry at the moment but we are forecast a wet morning and showery afternoon. I doubt I’ll see family this weekend, DD2’s partner is taking the 8 year old camping with his brother and nephews and DD2 will visit them with the 3 year old during the day. I’m seeing DD1 on Monday so I doubt she’ll visit before then.
I did some more gardening yesterday afternoon, can only manage 20-30 minutes before needing to rest!
I’m trying to cull my many books so will continue that today.

Good morning all and it’s calm and sunny here at the moment. We had a short shower yesterday, black clouds which quickly drifted away and sunshine returned. Rain forecast for today . Who knows?

Yesterday we had two delightful ladies come to give Dh a dental checkup. A lovely dentist and her very efficient nurse.
They will e mail us a dental plan for treatment which Dh can have a think about. I told them how 18 months ago he had a tooth removed (left half in gum and rather traumatic) and when he got home , suffered a stroke. They were very concerned.

DS1 and DIL are coming in for coffee and a chat this morning and we’ll take it from thereafter.

Bank holiday doesn’t mean much to us, as we won’t be joining the busy throngs on the roads and places .

I had my hair cut on Thursday and don’t really like it. Just fancied a change but it will soon grow. It’s thick and has a will of its own.

My hairdresser is off to a Malta next week. I warned her of the very hot weather there. Bellasnanna told us 45 degrees. 🥵.

I hope Madeleines leg is improving and also Marydolls mouth is more comfortable.

Yesterday was wet but I was working indoors.
I had a poor sleep and have woken with back pain again. Such a nuisance especially as I have open studios this weekend.

Good Morning from a bright, sunny Durham, but a definite Autumnal feeling in the air. I’ve had a disturbed night and frequent loo visits. My left shoulder and right leg are aching, so with Little Dog fast asleep on the bed, I intend to stay here until he stirs.

Good morning everyone from a cloudy Northampton, showers forecast later.
Yesterday stayed mainly dry.

It was my last dance classes yesterday until November, which came as a bit of a shock when I worked it out! We have the next two weeks off as our teacher is on holiday, then the next week I have my second cataract op so cannot dance after that for 4 weeks, and then the following weeks I am away on on a cruise! Which brings us to November.... and winter will be upon us....

After dance yesterday my friend and I went to pick up our very elderly (92 yrs old) friend for her weekly shopping trip at Sainsbury's, with coffee and cake in Costa first. She does very well for her age but is grateful for the extra help.

May have an outing to the shops this morning, then home and will potter about and read the papers.

Second attempt! Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° with blue skies, albeit hazy, and sunshine. Isn't it strange how the weather can vary so much? Baubles fingers crossed it isn't too serious. Mick enjoy your trip and Ashcombe enjoy your catch up with friends.
Yesterday was quiet with housework and washing done. I made a big slow cooker pot of ratatouille and had some for dinner with pasta. The rest will go in the freezer. I also sorted subscriptions to National Geographic kids for both boys. I had an early night because of gallbladder pain but slept reasonably well.
Today I'm meeting my pal and her daughter at the garden centre for breakfast. Then, this afternoon is a tesco delivery. Tonight I'm looking after the boys while dd and dsil take his mum out for dinner to celebrate her retirement. It won't be a late night but it will be nice to see the boys. Have a good day all.

I had my cortisone hip injection yesterday and am on 24 hours of ‘taking it easy’.
So, no pub for me yesterday, might go tonight.
Hopefully those who are poorly are improving.

Good Morning everyone from the central south coast. The sky was very red earlier so I am expecting the forecast of rain and strong winds to be correct.

Will see how the day develops after usual ablutions. It will probably involve faffing with odd jobs as the fancy takes me and as energy levels allow.

I am in awe of the skilful needlewomen on this thread. I am not bad with a pen but definitely have no talents with a needle. Each to their own I suppose! Lovely toile karma even though I am unsure whether a toile is something you would wear or just a practise garment?

Thinking of all with health issues or other worries or struggles and hope today brings some relief and comfort.

Good morning from a brightening northwest coast. Roots coloured and a trim yesterday, but not by my usual hairdresser who was away. It’s a good job it wasn’t for something important, as the ‘blow dry’ was completely flat and the cut nothing special..at least the grey has gone and I can style it myself.

A food shop and telephone call to my recently bereaved SIL. It’s ten years since my DH died and all our experiences of bereavement are different, but we can exchange similar feelings.
Tonight to a local musical production, the director being one of my old voice students.

Decluttering, I came across this anecdote someone had sent to a local newspaper which amused me:

I will continue to gather things together for our upcoming trip to Wales on Thursday
We are meeting up with my brother in law and sister in law later for tea. She had good news from the consultant last week so I want to see her to talk about it.
There is a burger shack opened up near them. It sounds rough but is actually excellent. My son’s been and said it’s the best place he’s had a burger, and his standards are high. They cater for gluten free and vegetarian so it’s a winner.

Dress toile is finished and is truly lovely, a beautiful fit on me so version 2 will appear in the future, no frill, long sleeves and in a lovely quality fabric. This one is a very nice fine poplin and a keeper

A mixed day yesterday, starting with a walk, sewing, potttering and finally I started to get the knitting mojo back. There was a sudden evening sale of fabric from my favourite bargain online deadstock shop so I spent money there, unexpected but so be it. Eg the photo dress cost me < £12, from a previous sale

It seems as though I will be home today, no fun going out in heavy rain but I will be happily occupied

Good morning from dry and still South Lanarkshire.

Yesterday turned out to be a day medical and dental doings. I’d been experiencing breathlessness and odd pains for a couple of weeks and decided to get it checked. I rang the surgery at 8.30 am, got through on the 5th try and got an appointment for 9.10. The GP decided I needed a chest X-ray and blood tests and sent me off with a card for the X-ray department at our nearest hospital. I was seen within 15 minutes then went to the drop in clinic nearby to have my blood taken. So efficient, just have to wait for the results now. My dental appointment after lunch was just as efficient but sadly the tooth can’t be saved and will have to come out.

Last night’s planned hot air balloon flights didn’t happen due to the wind apparently. Even although conditions on the ground seemed pretty good the weather hundreds of feet up is a different story. I’m watching from my window now in hopes that the morning’s flights will go ahead. The Balloon Festival organisers put so much effort into this event, it’s sad when the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Good morning from a really soggy Torbay following some hours of rain which is continuing to fall.. I hope it will spread to your respective necks of the woods, grandMattie and RosesandLilac but not Bath, which could spoil Mick’s trip!

Yesterday evening I went to a social evening at the theatre where it was good to spend time with friends not seen for a while, some of whom had attended performances of Yes, Prime Minister.

An indoor day catching up with chores is planned. I hope those struggling with ailments have a better day.

Good morning, it’s dry and cool here in south Glos, we had a couple of heavy but brief showers yesterday, it’s supposed to be raining all day today. We’ll see!
Yesterday I went to the surgery to get and appointment for bloods. The letter requesting specific tests was very detailed and I did want to try explaining over the phone.
I popped into a friend’s house and had a coffee and chat, she’s having radiotherapy this week so just wanted to make sure she was okay.
I got two loads of washing dried before the showers, all put away too.
Several other chores completed and I felt very pleased with myself 😁
I spent the afternoon sorting through various threads, very therapeutic for me, and doing more crewel work.
Nothing planned for today, it’s supposed to be very wet all day, let’s hope so!

Good morning from Bristol. It’s still dark, but is also overcast. We are forecast rain today; it would be good if it were more than the four or five 2 minute showers we had yesterday.
The outside painting saga still goes on; it’s due to be finished next Friday, but there still is a huge amount to do and the painters haven’t appeared since the last week of July. And, I noticed that some (unprepared) painting was already peeling after about three weeks.
Church coffee to serve today; I made a date & walnut cake from a new recipe. The small piece I had, for quality control you understand, was delicious.
r&l, hoping you are still taking things easy, madeleine and md, may your afflictions have improved, ditto for the rest of sickbay.
