Popped in to see if we had a new ‘kitchen’ couldn’t find one so have opened this.

Hope all is well, will catch up next week 🙋‍♀️

So glad to hear you have heating and hot water again Charleygirl. Not eaten since Monday? Look after yourself now please.

utbb and I had a marvellous time over lunch (and wine) forging a deeper friendship. We plan to meet again after Christmas. Same place, Stockport. If anyone is in the vicinity when we set a date and would like to join us, please just say. It would be good to put faces to some names!

I can hear fireworks, quite loud. Beyond ridiculous so early. Unless of course it’s a one-off, some kind of family celebration. That seems to be something of a thing these days. 🤷‍♀️

Hello everyone. Some very heavy showers today and quite windy this afternoon. I got a bit wet walking to the church hall for the coffee morning but it was dry when I walked back. Stupidly I washed an anorak and a fleece jacket today, neither of which could go in the tumble drier. The clothes airer is in the garage until the decorators have been. So the jackets are on hangers hanging from doors. They’ll soon be dry, the heating has been on all evening.

fgt and utbb so pleased you had an enjoyable lunch with a glass or two to wash it down.

charleygirl no food since Monday isn’t good, I hope you soon feel like eating again. Is the exhaustion a result of the covid jab do you think? Most people I know have had a a similar experience. You mention shrinking - have you lost height yourself? I used to be 5 ft 6inches, but now am about 5ft!

conethran I hope you’re able to not talk and just rest for a few days as your DH suggests? Do you think it’s time to seek help?

DD2 is feeling a little better but still hasn’t been able to collect the prescription for her original meds as her pharmacy has had to order them in. She’s hoping to get them tomorrow.

Night night everyone, my bed is calling and hopefully is nice and warm!

Sorry about the typos cornergran. - I blame my fat fingers!

Nannytopsy Wed 21-Oct-26 22:35:12

Evening! Just in from garden club, after an afternoon of admin. Our friend gave the talk on beekeeping and of course I bought a jar of honey!
Glad FGT & UTBB had a good lunch. I went to meet ups in Leicestershire but I haven’t done any here in Suffolk. Anyone out there?
Sleep tight everyone

brook2704 Wed 21-Oct-26 22:52:52

Oh charley you need to eat something please, even just some toast if there’s nothing else you fancy
So good you both enjoyed your get together uttb and fgt, hope there’s many more
The boys will love the skeleton grandmabatty hope it’s not too scary for them!
I’m just in from line dancing, so much laughter and not that much dancing. I think the instructor tries to keep it all together but we’re hard work, such good fun though! Tomorrow I’m looking forward to an absolutely free day, such a treat - I’m planning a very lazy day
Corner lots of concern on here about your cough, I know they can linger but it’s maybe a bit too long especially if you’re feeling poorly with it
Yep charley we might get some early snow on Friday or it might just be slushy rain, will see!
Hope everyone sleeps well, take care all x

I have never had a reaction from flu or covid jabs before. I just wonder when I will feel normal again? Any ideas? Nobody around here was old enough to have the jabs so I am on my own.

Jaxjacky Thu 22-Oct-26 09:48:11

Having our flu jabs this morning Charleygirl not entitled to Covid.

What a week - DS (41) has just been admitted to hospital with heart failure and DSiL (39) is having cardioversion for atrial fibrillation tomorrow. Both fit young men. Meanwhile DD is 40 today.
We are the oldies and we are ok!

Oh dear sending you and your family (((hugs))) what a horrid time for you all.

Your poor DD I expect she does t feel like celebrating her big 40

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 22-Oct-26 16:20:30

Oh NannyTopsy I hope your family members are going to be okay with treatment. It must be such a worry right now.

I too am concerned today about my stepfather. He had another fall yesterday. I saw him today he’s fine, fortunately. Didn’t band his head. He said he turned away from the kitchen sink and just ‘sort of tipped forward’. Wasn’t dizzy but it spooked me. I asked him if he felt vulnerable/concerned should it happen again. He shrugged and said “it’s no use worrying about it”. Stoic, non panicky man.

I’m in the process of ringing the Trafford Adult Care Team now. I’d like them to assess him for a falls pendant/monitor.

I cannot ignore this gypsy’s warning.

Grandmabatty Thu 22-Oct-26 16:43:10

Nannytopsy what a worry! I hope both young men can be sorted out

Jaxjacky Thu 22-Oct-26 16:51:19

Not good news Nannytopsy and worrying for you, I wish them both well.
Concern for you too FGT good plan on the alert monitor.

Redcar Thu 22-Oct-26 17:34:21

nannytopsy such a worrying time for you. I hope that both your DS and DSil recover quickly.

fgt a falls monitor would be a good idea for your stepfather, and maybe give you some peace of mind too.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 22-Oct-26 17:37:28

I hope things improve for your family Nannytopsy a worrying time for you all.
I am just back from celebrating my friends birthday, she is 89 today.
We went on the train to Buxton and went to a fish restaurant near where her D lives.
I had a splendid fish chowder with a warm crusty roll to mop up the sauce, it was delightful.
My friend did a lot of staring into space,,took ages over her meal which she didn’t finish and we went back to her D’s lovely new house where my friend fell fast asleep until we woke her up to come home.
I have been quietly worrying about her for ages but realise that her D sees what I see so it is up to her if she wants to act on anything. I feel a sense of relief that the responsibility is no longer mine.

I am full of food and a large glass of Sauvignon blanc and certainly won’t need anything else to eat today.

All in all a pleasant day.
I hope you all found similar today.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Oct-26 17:40:22

The teens have collected all their stuff and are on their way home curtesy of girlfriends gran.

We have The Imp, he has been fed, now playing on iPad for 10 minutes before his shower.

The noise is sparkling, cleaning fairies 🧚‍♀️ have been here this morning, we had a successful trip to the farm shop, followed by a mooch round Smyth’s Toy Shop. DD got lots of stocking fillers, and I got a few also. Couldn’t resist The Gruffalo Granny book, which will be his bedtime story.

Hope you are feeling better Charleygirl 🙋‍♀️

brook2704 Thu 22-Oct-26 18:43:38

Such a worry nannytopsy I hope both your DS and DSil are soon on the road to recovery, sending hugs
Also a worry for you fgt, hoping your stepfather gets the monitor he needs
My quiet day didn’t go to plan as midway through the morning one of my closest friends messaged to say her sister had died. She’d been poorly a while but it was still such a shock. My friend is on her own just now as her husband works away so of course I went round to her house to give her a hug and have a coffee with her. I’m just back now and ready for a rest
Sounds like another lovely day uttb, but I guess it’s sad seeing your friend that way
Hope everyone has a good evening, take care all x

Nannytopsy Thu 22-Oct-26 19:34:40

I hope your step father is ok FGT. A concern for you x

Blossoming Thu 22-Oct-26 20:10:15

Nannytopsy I hope your young men improve, such a worry for you xx

I’m still here, not been too well recently but am starting to feel better. Still managing to get out most days with MrB.

I too have been for my flu jab today Jax and have slept most of the afternoon! The jabs always seem to knock me out.

Goodnight, TOYA xx

Redcar Thu 22-Oct-26 20:41:14

Good to see you again blossoming, I hope you continue to feel better. Enjoy your walks with mr B, Lomb may they continue!

Charleygirl5 Thu 22-Oct-26 20:44:48

Granygravy no better. I had a banana and two snacking cheese.

Nannytopsy that is horrendous, two fit young lads. Are they in the same hospital or are you running around?

Heaven knows if I will ever get better.

Jaxjacky Thu 22-Oct-26 20:49:41

Hi Blossoming I feel tired too.
Charleygirl how long after your jabs did you feel ill? At least you have eaten something.
Rain started here in S Hants, wind to follow later.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 22-Oct-26 20:57:49

👋 Blossoming it’s good you’ve popped in. Glad to hear you’re feeling a bit better and back to enjoying your stroll about the docks.

Charleygirl you sound low tonight dear lady. I hope that getting a few calories into yourself each day now will see a boost in your energy and mood. 🤞

I’m about to make myself a mug of Horlicks and watch Traitors. I put the heating on late afternoon for a couple of hours. First time in months.

Usedtobeblonde Thu 22-Oct-26 21:06:19

My friend’s D has just put a photograph on Facebook of her mother asleep with her mouth wide open.
I am spitting feathers on her behalf it is awful.
I know only her friends can see it but it is such an invasion of her privacy and dignity.
I have just told my D she would be out of my will if she did anything like that.

brook2704 Thu 22-Oct-26 21:19:52

Lovely to see you here Blossoming and catch up on your news, take care
How awful uttb could you ask her to remove it?

Nannytopsy Thu 22-Oct-26 22:03:14

DS is local, SiL in Kent. I’m sure they will be ok. 🤞
