Is this a wind-up?

Assuming you don't watch any live tv at all on any type of device nor as you say any bbc tv at all
You don't need a licence.
No licence is needed for listening to any radio including BBC radio.
Bit as we know Is and ought will never meet.
How about arranging for some strong arm person to be with you at the appointed time and letting them in.
Get a note of their names and designation.
Contact numbers. Emails etc.
Maybe ask to film the event.

I’m surprised at this. We’ve only had a tv for a couple of years after decades without and never had this sort of problem.
Have copies of your correspondence to hand, but no need to be belligerent with them.

It is annoying to have to repeat yourself but I would send them a letter recorded delivery. Then you have clear proof of having told them and they have had to sign to receive the letter, Then at least you have the proof with you.

I have heard of this constant harassment.
They are not entitled to search your property without a search warrant .
So don't worry about it .
You are not obliged to let them in .

They cannot enter your property without your permission.
They can apply for a search warrant if they have reason to believe you should have a licence. A search warrant does give them a right to enter.
Know your rights!

Even the police need a warrant to enter your home and you can deny them entry without a warrant so rest assured they’ll need time to get that arranged. Can you arrange to have friends or relatives with you on the 19th August too?
