A month ago, a house three doors down the road went on fire just after the couple who live there had left for work.
Police, ambulance and fire brigade arrived with commendable promtness and those of us who were at home mentioned to the police that there were three or four cats in the house.
One cat was brought out in the arms of a policewoman and as none of those cats are allowed out, I took the cat in to my house, and offered to take the others as well.
The cats' owner arrived in time to gather up one of the cats that was so scared that none of us dared try to get near it, and I lent the owner one of my cat baskets.
A month later she has not returned said transport basket, nor answers text messages or her phone.
So now I have ordered a new basket, as having two large cats I need two baskets.
I realise that having just lost your rented home and had furniture etc. damaged by smoke, these neighbours have a lot on their plate, but honestly!
It would take ten minutes to drop off my cat basket!
