We’re with Octopus, no communication on this yet.

I agree with Utbb the last time I saved I think 3p. I have agreed to saving tomorrow evening because I want the free hour's electricity on Sunday, Being greedy, two hours would be better because my washing machine takes more than an hour but the quick wash on my dishwasher is 29 minutes so that will run.

I have received that message from Octopus, I use little electricity during that time anyway so have not taken the offer up.
When I have received the free hour or two during the winter I have found the amount saved is minimal, not looking a gift horse in the mouth or not trying to be green, just realistic.

I think it is to try to avoid firing up gas stations, which makes sense I think. Octopus is giving its customers an hours free electricity on Saturday in exchange for the effort.

Thank you infoman.

I'm with a different supplier. So far there's been no communication from them regarding the solar eclipse.

Due to the eclipse, Octopus states that as they have very large solar farms, electricity production will be reduced.Octopus are urging consumers to try and not use high energy items like washing machines between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday maybe even charge up our mobile phones before 6pm and if possible prepare your tea before 6pm.
