Good Morning Everyone,
Its not quite twilight here in Brackley but its dry outside and it could be a very warm day.
Todays routine get an early bus to Bicester , have a coffee and a bite to eat , do a shop and chat to people I know.
Watch the penultimate stage of women's Tour De France heading to Nice, the British Girls are not doing so well.
Health OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Northampton. My tablet is not letting me post anything this morning so I am having to use my phone which is taking me three times as long.

Dance classes yesterday filled most of my day - I do really enjoy them and know that they are doing me good exercise-wise. And the company is good too!

Managed to get most of little cat's medicine down her yesterday but she is nowhere to be seen this morning. She has a mind of her own as most cats do, and cannot be made to eat. I will try and tempt her down by offering treats.

Big event in our little close today - two couples have 50th birthdays this year and are having a lunchtime street party! Food and soft drinks are provided - we just need to bring our own alcohol if desired, plus tables and chairs. Thank goodness for the good weather!

I just need to walk round to the paper shop first for an extra newspaper then will get ready on my return.

Glad that Roses is home and comfortable, take it easy and let people wait on you!

I think I might have an eye infection as my eye feels gunky, and was a bit crusted on waking up. I am sure I have some unopened antibiotic eyedrops so will check the expiry date. If not it will be a phone call to the surgery on Monday.

Wishing all a pleasant and cooler day.

Good morning from a dry NE with a forecast of 23°.
Yesterday was a lazy day, did nothing but read and watch TV, my neighbour brought in the bin so I didn't even get into the garden.
Today the family are off to stay with DIL's parents for a week so no visitors this weekend.
Good to hear that you are home RosesandLilac 💐

Lovely nails bellasnana.

Good morning from Sunnyside Sandhills northwest coast.
An arduous morning yesterday putting ribbons on my tambourine for the music club next week 😁
Lots of washing after having five visitors and I have napkins soaking in bleach. Wish I hadn’t bought white linen napkins, they’re a faff to keep pristine.

I paid my solicitor’s hefty bill for work regarding my late DH’s reappearance of shares I knew nothing about and spent time in the garden. Nice to be quiet after a busy time. Also some painting.

Hope you feel better day by day R&L and thoughts to all🌺

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s the start of another gorgeous day.

Yesterday’s ai We We exhibition was amazing and we all found it mind blowing. Manchester is changing (like most major cities) beyond recognition. I think I’d like to go on a walking tour this autumn to reacquaint myself…

Later this morning we 3 are calling in to see a friend for croissants and coffee then our Yorkshire Lass and son in law will drive over to see my stepfather before going back home.

I’m being picked up at 1pm by friends such a nice couple who we’ve known 40 years and they’ve booked a table for lunch in Lymm. Looking forward to good company and food this afternoon.

Oh Marydoll! I feel faint just reading what you are coping with right now. I'm so glad your DS was able to help.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with a few clouds and quite windy
So pleased you’re home roses and you’ve some help over the weekend
I woke up in the night and couldn’t get back to sleep for a while, I eventually did and now it’s late for me waking up. Never mind I’ve nothing much planned for today until this evening when I’m looking forward to going out to a line dancing social event.
Oh marydoll sending gentle hugs 🥰
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Yesterday we went to Sainsbury’s to buy lots of bottled water. Our water supply is being erratic. The engineer from Severn Trent said we don’t have a leak so it must be the filter coming into the house. The plumber is coming on Thursday.

At six o’clock the new alarm went off!
Everything in the house is falling apart including me!

Pleased you are home Rosesandlilac and hope you feel better as the day goes on.
Good news from you DH’s colonoscopy Marydoll.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. The sun is shining!

The midnight cirrus flowered for its once a year moment last night. I wouldn't have noticed it if I had not been washing up and baking a cake long after the dinner guests had left.
The dishwasher isn't working for some reason so I had to unpack it all and do the dishes in the sink.

Later today I'm going into Edinburgh as I am meeting some friends and we are going to an event.
My helper is going to Ayr. She worked like a Trojan clearing moss off the driveway yesterday.

My house viewing has left me lots to mull over.

I hope you are recovering well Rosesandlilac and home has managed in your absence.

Have a good weekend everyone.

WhiteSwan63 Sat 08-Aug-26 08:32:15

Good morning from the east coast. It’s beautiful again. What a summer.

We have our little ladies coming over after swimming for lunch. They’ve requested burgers. I’m cooking a roast chicken for DD and I with salad. We don’t see much of them when their daddy is home as they are all so busy. We won’t see DSIL as he is in a Jujitsu competition.
DH’s sister and partner are picking us up later to go for a meal with a few people for her early birthday celebration. We are going to a casino which does lovely food and we’ll have a little gamble though I’m very cautious.

Sending best wishes Rosesandlilac for your ongoing recovery and to anyone else struggling with health issues💐

Hope you all have a lovely Saturday. 🌼

Morning from bright S Hants, I am so fed up with the heat looming again.
Hi Roses pleased you’re home, take it very easy.
A quiet day ahead, my son is calling in.

luluaugust Sat 08-Aug-26 08:30:13

Glad you are home R&L
Marydoll if only the NHS did joined up medicine! Good that nothing sinister was found.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 08-Aug-26 08:27:49

Good morning from another glorious day in S E Essex.

We will pop out to local shops for essentials first thing (BBQ and salad bits). I then intend to pretend I am in my holidays with my kindle and sun lounger in the garden.

Marydoll I have no idea how you are carrying on at the moment sending you (((hugs))) 🌸

Gingster I think it is the annual RHS flower show at Hyde Hall at the moment, enjoy it will be very busy.

Take things easy Rosesandlilac let your family wait on you 🌹🪻

Marydoll Sat 08-Aug-26 08:23:06

I did mean to amend Lydle, but I couldn't be bothered. wink

Marydoll Sat 08-Aug-26 08:05:05

Good morning all from a sunny Glasgow. Where it is only 12°C.

Good to hear from R&L yesterday.

Bellas, your nails are lovely

Firstly, apologies and heartfelt thanks to those, who sent PMs, I just haven't found time to respond. Your kindness and support mean a lot to me.

The positive news is that DH's procedure showed nothing sinister in his bowel, just some issues that can be dealt with.
However, they have no relevance at all to his on going health issues.

Unfortunately, DH had a reaction to the colonoscopy prep. His usually high BP kept dropping and his behaviour was so erratic.
At midnight on Thursday, I heard the most horrendous crash, coming from the downstairs shower toom. He had fainted due to a sudden drop in BP.
Worryingly, he was lying behind the door and I couldn't get in.
Eventually, I managed to squeeze in a gap, DH had no idea how he ended up on the floor.
He was too heavy for me to help him up. I phoned DS (the grumpy one), asking for help. That was a wake up call for him, literally and metaphorically!
He did not take it well. He has been denial, about DH's health.

We got DH upstairs and into bed, but he kept getting up for the loo.
I spent the whole night watching him, in case he fell again. He had no recollection in the morning, of any of the drama, got up, at 6am, showered and shaved as normal!

I was exhausted yesterday, both mentally and physically..

He has a GP appointment on Tuesday.
A GP had noticed his high BP readings on the NHS app and wanted to discuss it.
I went through the roof. The GP had obviously not read his notes they have now and had no idea, that DH already had a cardiology referral. What hope do we have, when this incompetence is rife?
I was raging. He has been lost in the system, having seen a string of GPS, six at the last count, due to the GP, he was seeing, having been on sick leave for weeks

Today, I need to catch up on the parish paperwork.
To my absolute surprise, a parishioner did some of the rotas, which needed done. I hadn't said anything, but she must have realised, I was struggling.
She can be rather nippy and sharp, which hides a very kind heart.

I had planned to shop in Asda yesterday, and have an early lunch in Costa, while DH was in hospital. The hospital is only ten minutes away.
There is poor reception in the retail park and combined with the planes taking off from the airport nearby, you can't hear a thing, I missed a call from the hospital, to come and collect him. No shopping and no lunch, hence today's Lidle trip.
DH rubbed salt into the wound, saying he had alreadybeen fed in hospital.🤬

However, I managed ten minutes in TKMaxx, where I found a designer blouse for the princely sum of £7. Every black cloud has a silver lining.🤣

I wish you all a pleasant Saturday and best wishes to all our mountaineers.

P.S. There is currently a thread on GN, regarding accessible shower rooms.
I was going to post a photo of ours.
Unfortunately, DH caused some minor damage, when he went down. He is a BIG man!
I need to purchase a new table,I had, with items on it. I was aiming for the ^designer bathroom look. 😉 The table has lost a leg. 😪

Good morning from a bright and sunny Black Country. It is definitely cooler first thing in the morning.

Almost ready for our trip tomorrow, everything is sorted, just need to load car today.

When we were away in Portugal in June, there was a 24 hour power cut. Arrived home to a big hole in front of our Drive. Luckily we didn't need to go out in the cars, had to phone and they came the next day to put a metal bridge over it. Yesterday in the post was a cheque for £140 from National Grid. Compensation payment.

Thinking of MD and her DH. Hoping you feel much better today R & L as the day progressing.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Liberty Sat 08-Aug-26 08:00:42

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk where I’m pleased to read that R&L is home and Gingster has completed on her seaside home. Significant events for both of you.

I enjoyed a few hours yesterday with my dear friend and we ended up having lunch at the cafe on part of the Ravingham estate where there is a sculpture trail each year. We didn’t see it as my friend had visited it with her DH last month and said it wasn’t as good as last year( which wasn’t as good as the year before). Perhaps time to take a break for a year or 2.

Apart from a trip into our nearest town to fill up my car and I’ll pop into the monthly country market,it will be a quiet day at home staying in the cool house or shady spots in the garden.

I hope all have a restful day.

Gingster Sat 08-Aug-26 07:46:44

Good morning all.

Yesterday we had ‘Completion’ , so all over and done with……
So I thought!. No! I then spent most of the day cancelling amenities. Trying to get through to various people on the phone is pot luck. They put you through to the right department, only to be cut off. Being a ‘holiday home’ confuses them somehow. I still have to try to phone back the Electricity people and cancelling wasn’t confirmed !

Then of course there’s the HMRC form to complete! Omg! Have you seen it? 🤯. And then they take ‘all’ your money.

Dh and little dog are both poorly. Dh has a very sore mouth and has taken pain killers 😳. I’ve never known him to take pain killers! Little pooch is off her food, restless and subdued!
Hopefully just the heat. (I know how she feels).
I’ll keep an eye on her and Dh.

Having said that, my friend is taking me the RHS Hyde Hall this afternoon. I’ll pop on a train for one stop and meet her at the next station. It will prevent her getting stuck in traffic my end.

I’ll only be gone a couple of hours so the poorlies can look after each other. DS1 will pop in to see them too.

Enjoy the day and try to keep cool. People are feeling unwell with this heat and it’s only going to get worse this coming week. Plenty of water (drinking not watering plants). All the gardens are looking decidedly desert-like , with the hose pipe ban. We long for rain, here in the SouthEast.

Take care.🥀

luluaugust Sat 08-Aug-26 07:31:32

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. I was taken out yesterday by both daughters , we had a lovely time in the shops in Rochester and a sandwich lunch, I think we all felt we were in a dream, I hope so much time won’t pass before we can do it again.
Off to DS and DIL today with DD1 for coffee and then a quiet afternoon and evening I think. Having had everyone around they are all away for the next couple of weeks
Best wishes to all

Grandmabatty Sat 08-Aug-26 07:29:34

Glad you are home Rosesandlilac

Redcar Sat 08-Aug-26 07:27:59

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, another warm day forecast. Yesterday was a beautiful day, not too hot. I did a wash first thing and got it dry and ironed in the afternoon.

Lunchtime bingo was fun, but no winnings for me. I’m almost packed ready to go to DD1’s this afternoon. I’m looking after the dog all week while they’re away on holiday. Luckily it’s not far away as I shall have to come back to check on post. I’m expecting correspondence from the solicitor dealing with my godmother’s estate, which will need urgent attention.

I hope that marydoll’s DH is recovering quickly from the tests he had yesterday and that md herself is feeling a little better.
grandmattie I hope you are able to rest your ankle today and that it won’t be too long before it’s completely healed.

I hope that rosesandlilac is comfortable at home now and beginning to recover.
Best wishes to all in the sick bay today.

Have the best day you can everyone..

RosesandLilac Sat 08-Aug-26 07:24:57

Good morning lovely friends , very glad to be home.
Somewhat bleughh this morning, I was warned it would happen, having good days interspersed with the opposite. Yesterday was good.
Oh dear grandMattie, your poor ankle 😢 I have a few spectacular bruises from the drips and surgery, DGCs would be impressed!
DS is coming today, he’ll take over cooking for the weekend 🙏, Waitrose shop coming this morning, hopefully DH will put it away. If he doesn’t, DS will.
I need to write out the analgesia timetable, goodness knows I have enough but I need an aide memoir to help me.
Beautiful bright sunshine here, I guess it’s going to be another hot day.

Love and best wishes to you wonderful people xx

Good morning from the Essex coast where another warm day is forecast.
We are going to DD2's today for a celebration afternoon.
She has a birthday today and her eldest and my eldest DGD is 18 tomorrow.
DD1 and her youngest, 10 year old E will also be there.
I'm so looking forward to seeing my girl's together.
Fingers crossed 🤞 the dreaded M25 is OK.
I do hope you all have a lovely weekend xx
