Good morning all from the Scottish Borders.
Rain expected today.
Yesterday was busier than expected and I slept badly.
A chap came from a local charity to collect 4 bikes and a friend collected a dozen stacking chairs for her DD's new venture in Glasgow.
My new Australian helper is here and will begin helping me with even more decluttering and garden work.
She's a grandma too and has an interesting lifestyle of travel, pet sitting and volunteering.
I'm expecting an electrician to inspect for my house purchasers.
I shall be thinking of you today Rosesandlilac. May it all go as planned 🤞
I like your ceramic cat LLfL and think I know the maker's work
Have a great day everyone and keep cool and safe especially Bellas

Good morning all and I’m so envious of all you grans up north and in Scotland . We are desperate for rain and none or hardly any is in the forecast. We’re now on hosepipe ban so I’ll conserve water indoors for the few pots that have survived the heat. Please send some downpours soon.
Interesting what you say Karma - overwhelming is definitely the correct term .
I have so many phone calls to make today re cottage sale. Awkward and ‘Overwelming’. There’s that word again! 😤. I do so miss Dh taking charge. 😢. Anyway ‘onwards and upwards’.
I had a nice lunch with my old pal yesterday. Our DH’s were at school together but both are very poorly. Mine with a stroke and hers with Parkinson’s . We were able to sympathise and console each other.
Today I have a pedicure this morning and Bridge this afternoon . Our handyman is coming to finish off. He plastered yesterday and will paint today. I have a nice new picture for him to put up.
Rosesandlilac all good wishes for you today. 🙏
Fgt it’s all or nothing isn’t it! Enjoy your quiet day.
Take care all 🥀
Good morning all from the Black country where it is a little cooler after overnight rain.
Today will pick up DH spare glasses and call in at the local for a carvery on the way back having got yet another voucher.
Before that it's the usual Tuesday top up at Iceland taking advantage of the 10%.
My thoughts are with RosesandLilac hoping all goes well💐.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans😎
Good morning from a cloudy warm Cambridgeshire where we are forecast 29 today. Yesterday was 32. I love the sunny warm days but do feel slightly overwhelmed by it which is unusual for me. I note your comments with interest today Karma
FGT when I retired 6 years ago I had a lovely time meeting up for lunches etc with friends and was shocked to see my weight shoot up somewhat. I now (try and) factor in cycle rides and walks around those lunches 😂. It is good to hear you are getting out and about 💕
Roses&Lilac thinking of you and hoping all goes well.

GM lovely pics. I love hydrangeas one of my favourites in the garden.
Today I am off to see my mil who will be 95 tmrw. She lives independently and keeps active with her sewing and garden and Church activities.
Hope everyone has a good day 💐
Good morning Mick and everyone from cool, rainy Carlisle. Yes, proper rain!
Yesterday was mostly cloudy so, after the morning chores, I went out into the garden to weed and maybe plant something. The sun came out and soon I felt as though I was being fried into the ground! The weeds did get weeded but the plants didn't get planted, I couldn't wait to get back indoors.
I heard a new word ...'cool-cation', folk getting fed up with the over-hot Mediterranean and holidaying further north like around the Baltic. I was in Greenland last August and folk were going swimming and, to me, the water felt no colder than off the Cumbrian coast. (I only paddled!).
Today, it looks like no gardening or walking unless the rain clears up. However, I probably need to rest my pulled calf muscle, it's still painful...and frustrating to this active person.
I'm hoping to get on with some of the many little jobs piling up, perhaps if I made a list it would encourage me to get ticking them off.
Thinking of you RosesandLilac, best wishes.
Grrr! I've just had an invitation to a C'mas event. Just no, it's August!
Good morning from Sheffield
Roses thinking of you today
Marydoll I hope you’re not injured too badly, only your dignity.
I am out again today . Off to a theme park with my daughter and grandsons. I shall also pick up my granddaughter on the way. It’s actually been raining here this morning but it’s brightening up now. Hopefully it won’t be too hot as we will be outside all day.
Take care everyone
Good morning from the Essex coast where I am now safely home from a lovely weekend.
I have lots of club admin to do today and maybe a little housework.
This evening we are out to our local pub for a meal and the monthly quiz.
My thoughts are with Roses today.
Enjoy the day everyone xx
Good morning from a dull and thundery northwest coast.
Quite a busy day yesterday, quotes for a new front door and bedroom window, gutters cleared and a shop with DD for family arriving later today.
I’m off soon to take my car for its MOT and the automatic garage door has stopped working again, so will ring the firm who ‘fixed’ it.
DGD, niece and nephew by marriage, DD and DS will be staying for a couple of days, so spent yesterday working out who is going where, but had a break to visit a friend with a new kitten. I took a couple of books I had enjoyed and never want a book returning as I have so many.
One good thing about having visitors is I have cleared some clutter.
I too send my very best wishes to RosesandLilac and hope all goes well today🌺
.
Good morning from a still sunny but breezier Wiltshire.
Yesterday with the GCs was mixed as it often is. We went to Marlborough recreation ground but it was rather rundown and the net wasn’t available which disappointed GS2 as we’d just got him a football. GD1 gave me heart failure as we told her repeatedly NOT to go on the monkey bars which were at least 15 feet off the ground. Then we had lunch in Ask where they ate well. They always get completely manic mid afternoon for some reason and fight. I was glad when they went home.
I’ve been putting off ironing for weeks but even now it’s 28°c in the bedroom so suspect I won’t.
Thinking of R&L today.
Enjoy your day everyone.
Good morning everyone from Lancashire.
Going to type 1st and then catch up with your messages later.
Yesterday DD sorted through a few boxes and chose some things to take back to B'ham and the rest to be donated or chucked. Hooray!
We took her to a play centre and cafe at lunch time where the little chap showed her his favourite activities.
I dropped her off at the tram station at teatime. I do miss her but she's where she should be.
I remind myself we've done our job by giving her roots to grow and wings to fly.
Today is Slimming World and then laundry.
RosesandLilac you will be in my thoughts and prayers today and in the coming days as you recover. Sending you the biggest unmumsnetty hug. 😘
Wishing you all the best day possible.🌻
Good Morning from Durham. After two hours steady rain through the night, there’s more forecast with a warm muggy day.
I almost over-stayed the parking limit yesterday, so I need to return to complete my list - card factory, petrol, Boots.
I have a hair appointment after lunch, then I’ll move stuff around in my garage, so the car boot lady can take the first lot, whenever she comes. Later I’ll walk Little Dog and take him home to DD2. I expect she’ll have a bag of laundry for me.
You’ve got this Roses we’re all rooting for you. Good luck today.
What are we going to do with you MD?
You’re having a tough time - not a good start to August. 💐
Best wishes to all. X
Thinking of Rosesand lilac hoping the operation is a success xx
Good morning from South Lanarkshire where it has been, and still is, pouring with rain. I know I should be grateful….
Thinking of Roses today.
It’s an important day here as our very dyslexic GD has just received her exam results, Nat 5s. She has done so well and we are proud of her hard work and determination, she’s away from home at a netball camp this week so I do hope she isn’t comparing herself to others.
Poor you MD, I hope you’re okay today.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.
Good morning, Michael12 and all!
My bestie, Stanley, the huge, muscular 9-stone Rottweiler, is having his birthday today; he's 7, so he's about 50-54 in his own.
He's due to come visit me here in the shop sometime this week, so, as he loves squeaky things, I went to the pet shop and bought him a huge squeaky rubbery chicken and a bag of meaty nibbles, and have left them in the kitchen here, ready for his visit! My boss's husband walked in this morning and found the chicken sitting next to the kettle! You should have heard him laugh! He's very intelligent with a brilliant Rottie sense of humour and very gentle; we love each other to bits!
I watched on YouTube How The Earth Was Made: From Molten Rock to Green Planet | Full Special | History. How our gorgeous planet was formed zillions of years ago!
And, I'm a very happy bunny as it's been raining heavily most of the night and still is now!
Customers coming in, see you later!
Marydoll oh no,
maybe do stay indoors ☹️
Good Morning from an overcast damp Co Armagh , lots of rain in the night , I got the can filled from the waterbutt this morning , I like rainwater for the greenhouse
Granddaughters in Edinburgh all pleased with their exam results , they do work so hard
Thoughts and prayers for Roses today and the recovery days

I made the ceramic cat myself!
A very late Good morning from Stockport.
I was awake at 3am and was still awake to read the first 3 posts on this thread then dozed off again.
I was late waking and felt groggy so had to come to before I could do anything.
Yesterday was much too hot for me, I felt unwell all day, it is overcast now but still very warm,
My thought today are full of dear R&L I wish her a good outcome and an uneventful recovery.
Morning from a hotting up Kent! Marydoll what a palaver! And without the benefit of alcohol! I dread falling over what with vestibular problem and the sticks. I now use a powered chair when we go shopping so no danger of falling. It’s a whole new world in the chair, no longer an invisible disability. Most people are really nice. I don’t go out on my own so I am housebound while DH is working. I’ve lost 11kgs since March partly through having no appetite and only eating ‘good’ stuff - no treats. DH has lost 34kgs after his diabetes diagnosis- he’s now reversed it.
I’m involved with the Fibromyalgia Action group which is based at Anchor Mill in Paisley on a weekly Teams meeting. So at least I have some external chat. They are a fun bunch despite all being in great pain.
Hope everyone has a good day!
Congratulations to all DGCs in Scotland who have their exam results today. I hope you have the results you need to proceed to the next stage of your lives. If not, then please reach out for help and support to guide you through the next steps to a happy future.
