Good morning all from a damp Morecambe Bay. We have had rain but not much declared DH before he went down to make the tea.
An early morning walk on the nearby marsh this morning as I have another appointment with the audiologist at 10 o’clock. I phoned yesterday as my new hearing aids are painfully loud. They have been adjusted once already. Hopefully they will get it right this time. I don’t like the hearing aids but I can’t fault the service I’m receiving.
Good news R&L hope all goes well for you, and that llf’s lurgy clears up quickly.

Good morning from what feels like a somewhat cooler Suffolk after the hottest day ever( or at least in the 42 years we have lived here).

I have my stretch class shortly which will be done at a gentle pace I’m sure and then home for a restful day indoors until it cools down in the late afternoon.

Just seen on the news that there is a ‘major incident’ on the Suffolk coast after a large wildfire broke out at Dunwich Heath yesterday late afternoon. Flames were said to be spreading towards the nearby St James’ church.

The tearooms on the beach are wooden and were burnt down years ago. It is an area we know and love and hoping that the fire is now under control.

Thinking of you R&L as you prepare for your hospital stay next week and hope that all have a good day especially those under the weather or with worries about others.

Good morning everyone from mid Essex, sunny again but slightly cooler this morning. I hope it won’t be quite as hot as yesterday, as grannygravy said it hit 35 degrees a few miles from here.
I delivered Dgd3’s birthday presents to her yesterday, her birthday is at the weekend, but she’ll be in Suffolk with her family and cousins then.
DD2 and family drove to Suffolk yesterday, and are concerned about the large fire on Dunwich Heath.

rosesandlilac I hope your pre op appointment goes well today and that the actual operation is successful. A lot of preparation to do in the next few days.

gingster sad that you can’t get to your seaside home for one last visit. A lot of walking for you today, it must be exhausting in the heat.

llfl I sympathise regarding your cold and cough, I’m still coughing but hoping it will clear soon as my back hurts when I cough. Summer colds seem much worse than winter ones! I hope you feel better soon and are able to resume your normal activities.

Yesterday, the surgery phoned to say that that, they had received a letter from the hospital, advising of my new, additional medication. I can pick up the prescription tomorrow.🤞
It was only Monday, when I saw the consultant. Well done NHS.

Unfortunately, the steroid injection, I received at the hospital, doesn't seem to have kicked in.
I went down to Mass yesterday, to a funeral and right in the middle of the ceremony, a dreadful pain shot up my leg,
down I went, as my leg gave way. Talk about being a noticebox!
I was so embarrassed. All you could hear in the silence, was my gasp of pain.

My priority today, is to phone the dentist: my front tooth, crown fell out again last night.😭
The dentist warned me last time it fell out, it would be tricky and expensive, to replace. Any dental work is problematic, given my circumstances.
My life is a car crash at the moment,

We received good news yesterday. Our friend is being released from hospital in Majorca today and flying home, with assistance, later this afternoon. We are all so relieved, he was in for ten days and in danger of sepsis.

The new laundry appliances are being delivered today, I never thought I would get so excited about white goods, 😉

On a positive note, I have spent weeks looking for an Ichi, padded cotton jacket, I have too many clothes, which I bought last year on holiday, It was driving me mad.
Yyesterday, I spotted it hanging on the door of the spare room. The reason, I couldn't find it was that it was teal, not denim blue, as I thought. I am an eejit! My brain just won't work properly.

Good morning everyone from another bright and sunny 🌞Northampton day, supposed to be a bit cooler.

Feeling pleased as I got all my planned tasks done yesterday plus some extra; downstairs is done so will concentrate on upstairs next week.

Up early, showered, hair washed and dried, dressed and enjoying mug of tea and a biscuit - I am off to Rushden Lakes on the bus and need to leave by 9am as I have a parcel to drop off at the post office first.

Ordered two dresses from Roman, same style, different sizes, and I need to return one; I could get into the smaller one but it was a bit snug, so the larger one it is - just in case I put on a couple of pounds on holiday!

I'll be picking up my copy of The Odyssey at Waterstones, and then having a nice browse around the shops, with a couple of vouchers from M&S, then enjoying a nice lunch and 🍷 somewhere....

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Very wet yesterday. The roofers came and I assumed that they wouldn't start. I was wrong. They worked all day, getting soaked.
One, a steeplejack, told me about his life "at the top". They'll be back today to finish and clean the gutters.

After releasing 2 jackdaws from my sitting room last weekend I had a fright last night when a squirrel popped down the chimney and out of the fireplace!
It then leapt straight out of the open window - which is on the first floor.

I viewed a house yesterday which was very attractive. It's too big for one person so I probably won't pursue it, but it's rather nice.

Good morning Mick and everyone from bright Carlisle. It's only about 15°C outside but quite stuffy within especially upstairs so windows have been opened to let the fresh air in.

Yesterday was just a pottering day as I felt a bit tired...the body dealing with the RSV jab I assume. Still, I got my early walk in and deadheaded in the garden. One of my early purchases for the garden was a pair of patio roses for the front of a border. One is greatly exceeding its remit, it's more like a shrub rose and needs constant hacking back where it is. Pretty as the flowers are, I've decided that it's got to go at the end of the season, the same with another rose elsewhere.

Today I should have been going into town to collect a parcel from M&S but so far they haven't let me know it's arrived so I suspect that will be a trip for tomorrow. Instead, I will try to clear some jobs of my to do list and make a martyr of myself!
And later, will probably find a new book to read. I've had a minor decluttering of my bookshelves so when I do get into town, I'll offload them at the charity shop.

Good morning from the NE Mids where the weather is already quite warm……think we will be having a very hot day today! The last of the onions were often yesterday and we can now see that part of the veg patch has a lot of oxalis in it. The leaves, being dark green/brown make it difficult to see at a distance and the roots go deep so it needs digging out rather than simply pulling……a job for a cooler day perhaps?!

Good morning from a rather warm W Kent. Very quiet day yesterday DD1 woke with a bad back so combined with the heat we stayed indoors. The GC have returned home north and apparently are enjoying the rain!
Not sure what is happening today yet but I now have a pile of ironing to be done.

Good morning all.

Yesterday’s breakfast was just right at the reservoir. We sat out in the shade , one of the first customers . The water was very low and calm with lots of birds, geese, ducks, morehens and swans. The food was perfect . The cafe soon filled up and as we left it was waiting room only.

The solicitor phoned in the afternoon to say everyone was ready to ‘exchange’ on our cottage, so that went ahead and today we have the House Clearance team in. We can’t get up there so I’ll have to phone the estate agents to do the necessary.
Completion next Friday.

Today I’ll take little pooch to the groomers, go up to town to pick up DH’s hearing aid, back home to pick up little pooch and do some shopping. A lot of walking and I’m not looking forward to it in this heat. I do miss driving! 🥵.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a slightly cooler South Yorkshire. Still no rain.

Our writers group was not well attended yesterday afternoon due to ill health and holidays, but it was productive. There’s always a lot to talk about. I did a bit of shopping before coming home but it was so hot and getting back into the car, which had been sitting in the sun, was a nightmare.

Walking group this morning and the woods should be cooler, then lunch with DD. I hope she has remembered to put aside some empty jam jars for me. The plums are coming off my tree at a rate of knots now so I’m going to have to do something with them soon!

An enjoyable gathering for the end of term Wednesday Club party at which we were pleased to learn that we’d raised over £1500 over the year through weekly subs for our theatre company (Toads). I returned for a rehearsal in the evening at which I wasn’t mentioned in the director’s notes which must mean my little part was ok.

I’m meeting a new hygienist today. Each time I see one, they insist I arrive an hour early to have a (foul!) liquid antibiotic because of my history of heart surgery for a valve repair. DH is off to Camborne to visit a model railway shop.

Good morning from a dull damp and cooler northwest coast. I’m enjoying this cooler weather after being in the south and my DD, sister and in laws there will be suffering more high temperatures today. Flying DD had her USA flight cancelled after I left and is now on standby, but has been able to wash sheets etc. after our stay, so it’s worked out well. She returns here on Saturday and note family arrive on Monday.

My DS left the freezer door ajar on Tuesday night, but after closing it in the morning, I think I’ve saved my food.
After being with family for nearly a week, I’m enjoying a quiet time with the cat.

Good morning from Kent where, hopefully, today will be a little cooler than yesterday. My goodness it was hot.
We didn't do much til the evening when we went to a local steak restaurant which was lovely and air conditioned. I had a delicious sea bass.
Today I'm taking C into Bromley to buy the things she needs for her return to school. We will also have lunch out, her choice.

Good morning, high clouds here on the hillside in south Glos, a cooler day today.
I had two surprises yesterday! An email early on saying my pre-op is today (talk about short notice), followed by a second one in the afternoon saying my surgery is next Tuesday.
I’m shocked but highly relieved to finally have an end in sight. It’s taken 23 weeks to get here.
So, it’s all systems go for the next few days to be ready. I have a friend coming to collect me post op as the volunteer driver service insists, rightly, on there being someone if collecting post surgery.
I’ll need to write detailed instructions for DH about the dogs, watering the garden etc., it’s on my ‘to do’ list.
I’m hoping I can get my hair trimmed too before I go in.
Plenty to keep me busy for the next few days 😁

Good morning from Sheffield

My sister in law is home after her op. It all went well. She has to wait 4 weeks for her results whether she needs further treatment.

Thouroughly enjoyed the film Oddessey last night. It was a long film, three hours but it went very quickly, and I didn’t start fidgeting which is a sign I was engrossed.
I have the two grandsons 9 and 6 all day today. We shall find a water park to take them too. The family are here later for tea. I’m doing crispy chicken and Chinese rice followed by trifle.

Good morning from s somerset, cooler today thank goodness

There are signs of slow-down outside in the garden and allotment, I am getting enough produce to be able to eat with the seasons but it is a wonder to see how fast the winter squash are growing

Today I am planning a longer bike ride, e bike as it is ages since I ventured on the longer ride, I want to leave by 9, to be back for lunch, followed by a free day.

I expect to be cutting out a finally perfected T shirt from one of the beautiful interlock fabrics and sleeve length depends on the amount of fabric. The photo is my finished T shirt with a scoop neck, it is lovely on and is a keeper, the pattern joins my other TnT patterns that I can turn to at any time ( TnT = tried and true) Today I will make a crewe neck T

It will be a more `normal` day for me, now that the heat is dissipating, Doing anything during the heatwaves has been a struggle
